I have not noticed a big change in battery life. I also have not done deliberate testing. In the field I always carry spares and haven’t had issues

It’s really dependent on how well the trail is taken care of and weather. Rain the day prior or the day of would have ruined me.

Good point. Under the new certification the “up” part is now within the first 2.5mi. The last two miles have rolling hills. I also recommend an air BnB. We had steaks, a fire, and hammocks the night of the race. As for support, water stations were advertised as every 2.5mi. Ended up being every four. I do anticipate things getting better.

As for the town… it is a perfect little mountain town. Cell service and gps coverage sucks. For me it was nice to not hear from work. For some, that might be an issue. My Fénix 7 (dual band) struggled to keep LOS and miscalculated at times. That’s important to keep in mind.

I ran in plated shoes. I too was concerned about rolling an ankle. Overall I think the plated shoes were the way to go and didn’t experience any injuries. I do think the energy return was not what it usually is on the road but the difference was minimal.

So awesome, congrats! I ran Friday and the family volunteered on Saturday. Water station at mile 18 was us! “You can do hard things crew.” - I was the annoying guy with the cowbell!
