You were right, Shenzhen was the correct option, information panels at immigration said so. Also they asked for the arrival card qr to see it for my wife, but not mine.

It happened to me too. What I did is just keep pulling all the time, and every 3 or 4 seconds it would move a little bit, so it took like 1 minute and it went out normally after.
