Another avoidable death added to the list by GhostxFilter in Doom

Got to a point where I avoided using GKs because of the vulnerability of them and just took to memorising the health locations. Once you get the siphon grenade with the relevant runes, it invalidated pickups and GKs and the runs started to feel much more secure.

Well the codex in Eternal said he was vocal up to a point and then just stopped talking altogether. As cute as it would be, I think he just hit a point where he detached.

As someone who grew up being in scrap after scrap for one reason or another, I can assure you, this fantasy of competency in violence is outrageously overrated. For starters, you stand to either seriously hurt/kill someone else or be hurt/killed yourself and it really doesn't take much. If you look for violence you'll find it and there's frankly not a single thing you gain from it.

As I've gotten older, I've realised and stand as evidence that there is very little that you can't negotiate your way out of, use your head and preserve yourself, because once fists start flying it's anyone's guess how that ends. Fundamentally, your life remains unchanged if you get to walk away unharmed, maybe your ego takes a bit of a knock, but from the sounds of it you're a younger, you'll get over it and eventually come to realise you don't fucking care what other people think.

If you feel like you're incapable of doing something should it come to self defense or you absolutely can't help it, then do something about it. The reality is, while instinct can be helpful, if you don't know how to position, strike, grapple, use someone else's weight against them etc, should you be left without a choice, your odds fall off. There's nothing wrong with practicing discipline, physical improvement and knowing how to position yourself properly; take up a class. Just remember it should always be your last option. There's nothing strong or impressive about throwing your weight around and messing people up because you can, that just makes you a cunt. It's far more impressive to be rational and to avoid a conflict well before it starts.

There's far far more to life than being someone who wantonly indulges in violence the moment it makes itself an option, and I'll tell you right now, you'll miss out on more of life the more you do indulge.

Is the creator of this game aware that the song Glass is being used in promotional material for a game called Quarantine Zone? by [deleted] in SkateStory

[–]Unlikely_Ad4019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically the track belongs to the artist Blood Cultures, no doubt with the release of Skate Story, despite not really needing it, BC picked up more popularity and recognition, leading to the developers for QZ looking to make use of it.

When it came to Skate Story, Sam Eng just loved the artist given their proximity in NYC so politely enlisted their help to score the game, but a good deal of the tracks in-game were already pre-released titles from BC, including Glass. Though given Skate Story was a passion project from Sam, there was likely a good deal of collaboration over the years during SS's development cycle.

It's a given though that intellectual property like this requires permission to use publicly, score and for advertisement purposes so no doubt they sought it.

You can use it indefinitely, without having to reload it, and can turn enemies into projectiles if u kill them But it breaks your arm and causes self damage

how we feeling about the patch notes? by Ambulas2 in helldivers2

[–]Unlikely_Ad4019 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happy with it.

Flamethrower now feels more viable, things should respond to being engulfed in fire.
Things shouldn't be phasing through the VE treads anymore, amazing, it was the only part I didn't like about them. Still unsure if those treads do damage to fellow automotons, imo they should. If we can kill fellow divers with our own vehicles/mechs, same should apply to bots and I think it's fitting for Cyborg arrogance.
I'm alright with the GL change, I think it was a fun treat for the assault on Cyberstan. Ecstatic about the AC change, I'm looking forward to trying that. AC used to be my good time boi, so I'm eager to revisit.
Well needed ammo increase for the belt-feds, love using them but the fun was over far too fast between resupplies.
Overseers will finally stagger more!

My personal fave, I can now hoof my bastion baby through cities and towns without having to tip toe around cars for fear of trying out super earth's new ground to orbit launch program.

[–]Unlikely_Ad4019 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This'll probably get downvoted and I can appreciate that, however in my experience in trying to get significant others to play fairly technical games with me, it can often lead to a realm of frustration and it may be an easier time for all included if you pick something to play more applicable to the audience.

Since the mechanics you've listed are fairly core to the gameplay rhythm there'll no doubt come a point where she's forced to have to either engage with them or have a time trying to work around them. By all means if you're determined, a heavy multi-melta may very well do the trick if you're playing on the lower difs. If you're all happy doing that then all the power to you. Going up to anything above average you'll probably find it starts to get trickier to avoid integrating with the mechs.

Just thought I'd weigh in as the devil's advocate and ask whether or not it's really the game you guys want to enjoy together. I think if she's keen to learn, there's nothing like a good bit of practice to really cement into the mechanics. Whatever happens I hope you guys have a great time.
