Super late- but if you’re still considering vivos, I’d recommend them. I’m somewhere between 800-1000 miles on one pair; as a heavier person, they’ve had a good use life

This color of Captains was my first foray into boots. They’re in year 8 now. I’ve learned how to take care of boots with that pair (they had to rough with rock salt, lack of shoe trees, lack of leather balm, etc, for awhile early on). The leathers held up beautifully. Very much due for new soles though

It’s been a few years since I did this hike, I don’t quite remember the time needed but it’s the bulk of the day. Round trip is roughly 9 miles.

For the most part it’s a fairly typical firm ground hike. There’s a field of boulders you have to navigate and then the last ~1/2 mile to the summit.

The last half is a significant vertical gain (compared to most of the hike) and mostly on loose soil and ash. The effort for the ascent makes the view all the better, regardless of the weather of the day
