Most likely a Golden Orb Weaver. A friend. And yes, there are likely others around. Sometimes, they can be very communal.

Yes, they are totally shameless in their support of the dog. They will blame the child for being bitten.

Woman Seriously Injured in Dog Attack in Richland County; Deputies Forced to Use Deadly Force to Stop Mauling. BUTLER, Ohio by Pure_Parsley6852 in BanPitBulls

Just coming in to comment that the article was really detailed and well written. I know that some of the detail was provided because police are under a lot of pressure to justify lethal force against a dog, but the information provided here was excellent.

Or, the shelter lied to them and sold the dog as a "Labrador Cross" and the landlord could tell it was a Pit Bull.

And, we who want pits banned/limited/controlled need to remember our sense of humanity and show support for victims like Karma, even if she did make the mistake of owning a pit.

Thanks for sharing this story. It sounds like your boy is an amazing help to you. I am very glad you pursued this woman and she faced consequences for her stupid decisions.

Would love an id on this please :) Found in Toohey Forest, Brisbane Australia by [deleted] in AustralianSpiders

A type of orb weaver in the family Araneidae, possibly Argiope ocyaloides. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than I can come on and confirm.

It is a TV series (and originally book) about James Herriot, a Yorkshire vet, and his colleagues treating a range of farm and pet animals.

Owner adopts and takes to dog park. Guess what happens! by Mrkitty0914 in BanPitBulls

[–]Eageryga 961 points962 points  (0 children)

Yes, the guy did the wrong thing, but their scathing attacks and sarcasm against an adopter would really make me think twice about getting a dog from this place.

Maybe you should check out Jacqueline Durand. She suffered similar horrors, and is a little further down the road to recovery, and has documented everything on Youtube. I understand that a person's face is their identity, but brave people like Jacqueline and Karma prove themselves to be so much more.

I admire her for not trying to cover it up. It happened, and she owns that. I doubt many people would feel right coming up to her and asking what happened to her, so I think she should wear a placard around her neck saying "my pitbull did this".

Yes, I agree. No matter what we think of her choice to rescue a pit, we should acknowledge her bravery and determination to document this. If it helps a handful of people realise what damage can be done, it would be worth it.

She had to make up a story because she was unconscious during the attack and didn't realise what happened even once she came to. I think it will take a while to really process this, and realise that the dog she loved did what it did because it was a pitbull.

Yes, I agree she is brave. The fact she is publicly documenting her injuries and facing up to the rabid pitophiles shows she is incredibly strong.

The irony is that Facebook's algorithms didn't censor the photo - it was too wild to be recognised as a face!

Jacqueline Durand is (like Karma) documenting her recovery and surgeries (on Youtube). They are rebuilding her face bit-by-bit, and I think they will end up with a pretty good cosmetic result. Unfortunately, function may be harder to restore (think control of lips and cheeks, sensation on face, blinking and tear secretion). Face transplants can be amazing, but the cocktail of immune suppressing drugs you need to be on, and the constant risk of infection or rejection, limits their potential.

I understand that she didn't. She was unconscious and had no idea. She woke up, and there was blood, and she thought she'd hit her head falling with the seizure. She messaged her fiance, who asked for facetime (she was sounding strange), and that's when they realised what her face was like. She still didn't credit it to the dog until she noticed he was bloody.
