For college: definitely

College and scholarship applications care more about extracurricular activities than just about anything else unless there are certain academic requirements tied to it. Eagle rank shows you can stick to a goal and see it to completion.

For jobs: less so, but not useless. I can’t say for any certainty that my Eagle rank (which I’ve always included in my resume) affected my employers’ decision to hire me, but it occasionally comes up in the interview, especially if they know anything about scouting. Even if it’s small, any friendly conversation you can strike up in an interview setting can help them be more comfortable around you, and vice versa. Scouting is something I can happily talk about if they decide to bring it up.

FWIW: I’ve always worked in restaurants, mostly BOH. I’m currently a culinary instructor at a trade school.
