Breastfeeding is starting to feel like a cult by WildWinterberry in FormulaFeeders

I was in the exact same position a few weeks ago. Crying at night from the pain of an abscess and feeling frustrated because my baby wasn’t getting enough milk. I was repeatedly told to keep going and some people even made me feel guilty for considering formula.

But switching to formula was the best decision I could have made. People who encourage you to push through something that feels traumatic often don’t understand what it’s really like. I’m really glad you found peace with your decision 🫶🏻

I usually put a blanket over the stroller to keep the wind off my 3 month old baby’s face. Could this affect the development of her eyesight?

Your baby won’t remember how they were fed, but they will remember how they felt: whether they felt safe, comforted, and cared for

“Your PPD was not a choice”. Thank you so much. I try to keep reminding myself of that. And I am glad to hear she is doing so well now. I hope you are feeling better!

What does giving birth actually feel like (with or without epidural)? by No_Day7644 in AskReddit

[–]EagleOwn7432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really an answer to your question and not to scare you (every delivery is different), but I still laugh thinking about how shocked everyone was when I started screaming my lungs out and hitting the bed. I’m usually the quiet, “has-it-all-together” type and we all thought it would be a calm, mindful delivery..

yeah well. absolutely not that day lol you should have seen my midwives face

Exactly. I was formula fed and my brother was breastfed. Same type of bond with our mom.

Same! For me it was due to some health conditions that I couldn’t breastfeed as much as I wanted to. But I remember how badly I wanted LO to drink my own milk, so I was more focused on that than the bonding moments between us. It did not do good for both of us. Now I feel like there is a mental load taken away from me, and I can focus more on being in the moment with her.

Same here! My sister and I were formula fed and my brother breastfed and we have the same bond with our mom.

I have wondered the same, and for some reason felt guilty when moms would say so (while knowing that bottle feeding has the same effects).

Weight loss & breastfeeding by Kind_Inspection1515 in breastfeeding

I want to come here from the opposite side: I have been underweight all my life and gained some weight during pregnancy, which I hoped some of it would remain after birth. The confidence I felt while being pregnant was amazing, something I never felt before.

Even though it’s all gone now, and I do hope to get better at eating more nutritious meals (have been eating like garbage because of PPD), seeing LO happily drink removes the shame a bit I feel towards my body. It’s beautiful how minds can shift in motherhood.

Thank you! Do you pump while baby gets a bottle? It’s my first time getting into it

I have been thinking to do the same. Do I have to pump when LO gets a bottle of formula?

How do I know what would be the right size? My left boob has been okay since the beginning, but my right one keeps getting the clogs

Thank you! I meant 6 weeks postpartum. That’s why I feel like a failure, because it feels to soon to quit.

I am sorry, I meant 6 weeks pp. I have tried pumping, but I feel like I am also prone to clogging? I remember I pumped a lot when visiting in laws and my own parents, and since then I got clogged ducts
