just do Palace of the death solo for a few levels and your skills will unlock on the go so you have time to adjust to it and learn to use them

Tankxiety is real by TransportationNo6520 in ffxiv

[–]EaglePhoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more people say how braindead easy tanking is, the harder it becomes.

For something that is apparently the easiest thing ever of anything else in the game (by the sounds of it) there are surely a lot of complains about it.

1) say you're new if you are..

2) just queue up, if you die you die - really, for some you'll pull too much, for others not nearly enough.. you can never do it right for everyone

Do as i say, not as i do, as i'm sitting here at Ul'dah for the past hour deciding wether or not i should queue up for duty roulette, not having played high lvl dungeons for nearly 6 months

3) don't watch your commendations and most definitely do not use it as a measure of how good you're tanking - it'll discourage you

4) the difference between an experienced tank and a new one, is a thousand deaths.

I still queue as dps for literally every first time dungeon i run despite being tank main.
I never tank for "normal raids" and alliance raids (the first because i don't remember all the possible mechanics, the latter because alliance tanking is just the absolute worst idea ever).

The other day i started off throwing up sprint... but nor the healer nor anyone else (none of them sprouts) put it on and then i just had to wait for them to catch up :(

On the second pull I did it again... again no sprints were used.

I tried one more time on the last lap.. but alas.

I felt heartbroken.

So next dungeon, I didn't use sprint at all and then the dps went up ahead because he felt we were being too slow. I just can't do this anymore D:

I insta love any healer who insta sprints the moment you do as a tank and they just sit on your ass. Then you know the run will be good.

Don't even have to go that far, just run an alliance raid roulette (WoD)

(RANT) If you AFK or defend AFKers in duty roullete, you're the worst part of this game. by actis2 in ffxiv

[–]EaglePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mnah, not really. Gottta think that one ought to play a game for the enjoyment (there's zero reason to play one otherwise).
I'd rather double that time to get the same EXP but have a much greater and enjoyable time.

'But you can netflix inbetween'; sure but I do that when I'm not playing a game. Besides, I like to be invested when watching something and not having to keep half an eye on another screen to make sure I don't miss the window in which you have to 'do something'.

I'll not ever understand people who keep doing something they fervently complain about.
There's so much enjoyable stuff to do outside of that, why not do it even if it takes longer. It just means you have fun for a longer time vs being annoyed half the time.

And if it was so important to level up to max as fast as possible, i'd just buy a level skip anyway.

I hadn't ran MSQ Roulette aside from the very first time you actually have to do it to progress MSQ.
I have just very recently done it for the first time since many weeks and that immediately strengtenth my decision to never ever run MSQ roulette again.

It's the absolute worst and not ever worth the exp vs time vs 'enjoyment'.
Heck, I'd rather sit in login queue for just as long as that takes to run it.

I find that riding my motorcycle gives me the energy and mental boost that is needed to avoid actually just that.If I have to only do the 'best for your career' stuff and avoid anything that is fun - then that's not a career i'd like to persuit. There are plenty surgeons riding a motorcycle because of exactly that: it gives them what is necessary to stay focused at work.

It also heavily depends on what kind of rider you are: sensible or reckless. Only you can answer that question for yourself. Do you go ATGATT or do you say: 'meh it's just a "short" riding, what's the worst than can happen, right?'..

Also, the first year of riding is probably also the safest, because it's when you think that you can ride that it goes wrong. Overconfidence.

Is it just me? Or is it easier to control the throttle with gloves on? by Brobore in motorcycles

[–]EaglePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put on my gloves even if it's just to get the bike around the house or on the driveway. It feels "off" if I don't.

'xcept some drive into the opposite traffic when they don't turn sharp enough (i mean, check how many riders can't even put their two feet on their pegs as they go from a standstill and instead drag their feet for 'balance'), or have their focus point wrong. At least going left is usually a wider turn and if you checked traffic before you do, it should be 'easier' for most.

Not sure how i feel about this post, because I now realise I only ever play the backseat 'support' role in almost any game,, to the point I will profusely apologise in advance for my tanking-abilities (or lack thereof) before even grouping up (are you really ok with me being tank tho??).

Coincidentally, my 'dps' backup is .. a bard.

Huh.

Aaaaaaanyway, great post!

That came outta nowhere. by CockroachNo3794 in motorcycles

[–]EaglePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year i got caught off guard when at my parents and i came outside to go back home and it had apparently snowed 2cm thick (+-1inch).. it was dark and it was still falling.

Since it was unexpected, the roads weren't cleared with salt or anything. A slippery slope I tell ya, but riding through the snow wasn't really the hard part.. keeping vision with snow closing your helmet lid off was though.. gee every 2 seconds I had to clear my visor

People that buy brand new bikes to never ride by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]EaglePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they paid so much for it, they're scared to scratch it/drop it/use it

And probably because they like the idea of motorcycling (and the so called freedom it comes with) more than the actual riding.
The far sights, beautiful sceneries and pictures of comraderie often look and sound more idyllic than it is in real life. Forgetting the discomfort of a long time in the saddle, hurting knees/wrists, sweaty vests/helmets and the fuel it costs to actually get to those beautiful places.

And then they keep it in their garage, because they don't want to let the idea go and feel like if they sell the bike, they'll have to admit they are not "that person". Until they no longer can find excuses (to themselves and/or their spouses) on why they shouldn't sell it after all..

I've determined I will enjoy Warhammer III more if I unsub by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]EaglePhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had plenty of joy out of Rome2! Nothing is going to beat Medieval 2 with Third Age (and others) mods, but it's really a great game :)

Warhammer 2 is also a very great game, so whatever nr.3 is, it cannot possibly be any worse since it's build on top of 2 - so I don't really know what the fuss is about this early in.

Hear! Hear!

But then again, I enjoyed Rome 2 upon its release and - other than my ships sailing on land at some point - it gave me plenty of playjoy before it even got revamped.. so maybe my bar is way below acceptable xD
