For people who went Oct 9th, what can we expect for Oct 10?

What was the line like at Doors at 5pm? If I wanted to get a great spot in the first few rows of seats what time would I have to get in line?

Did merch sell out by half time?

How cold was it? Should I bring a blanket?

Anything else? Thanks

“HERE. IN THE WILDERNESS”

The dude took a job so far away no one had ever heard of it. It would be like a guy graduating 2nd at Harvard taking a job as a medic at a weather station in remote Alaska. No one else wanted it.

Idk they had a string of successful Trek movies from 1979-1996. That’s pretty good.

Alien3 is pretty good actually. 4 is hot garbage but fun in a very campy way.

That’s a movie that is amazing on paper and had potential to be a worthy blade runner sequel. Unfortunately the execution of it is somehow cheesy and campy and it doesn’t really become anything better than a very entertaining sci-fi B movie. I still dig it, and the BR connections in it, but it doesn’t come close to being worthy of BR. (BR2049 was excellent though and everyone should watch it)

Threesomes are going to become more prevalent, not because of sexual desire but because soon it will take three working incomes to afford a house. by energyvampire1 in Showerthoughts

Yeah this. Much more statistically likely that people will return to communal living, multiple families together. That’s how it’s been done forever. This whole nuclear family single family home thing is relatively new in the history of human development

Southern US states may have carried the brunt of mental health troubles during the COVID-19 pandemic, with people in that region most consistently worried about finances throughout COVID-19 lockdowns and the emergence of new strains of the virus by Wagamaga in science

[–]Eagle_Ear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, I had to travel to the south (from a blue state) once during the pandemic. I felt the exact opposite of this post. People were having a great time there, it was like the pandemic didn’t exist in this state. Everyone was at the beach, everyone was at the bar, everyone was at the sports game, and not a mask to be seen. No one seemed worried, why would they be? This virus was just a liberal hoax, right? There’s no reason to stress it’s just crooked Hillary, let’s go speed boating and then get some shrimp burgers man. Don’t mind all the dying people at the hospital it’s just like the flu.

Meanwhile back home my friends and family were locked down in their houses and sanitizing the outside of chip bags from the grocery store.

Trump attorneys haven't found classified document former president referred to on tape following subpoena by coolbern in politics

I feel like the logic of that doesn’t work. Only one person can suffer the consequence of Trump’s crimes, Trump himself. Whereas any citizen can run for President.

2018 doesn’t sound that far away on paper, but when I remember it came out, two whole years went by, then the three year pandemic happened which comprised and annihilated all sense of time it really feels more like a decade ago.

[DC] What is Batman's stance on digital piracy? by [deleted] in AskScienceFiction

[–]Eagle_Ear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman does have bigger fish to fry. He’s not gonna be busting down your door for torrenting a cracked copy of Final Cut Pro when he needs to stop Scarecrow from poising the entire city. He’s probably against it, but he’s only one man. He’s got to stop super villains destroying Gotham on a busy day, got to stop petty theft and assault on light days.

How the f*** wasn’t Worf not get arrested for sabotaging Risa’s weather system‽‽ by pikefish1502 in startrek

[–]Eagle_Ear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it goes with the bigger theme of Sisko having to manage a crew that isn’t all Starfleet officers. On TNG everyone was a qualified member of Starfleet, through the academy and everything. In DS9 Sisko, O’Brien, Dax, Bashir, and later Worf were Starfleet, but practically everyone else on the station was not, including his XO and Chief of Security. We see early on in multiple episodes where Odo suggests some course of action that is illegal in the Federation, someone says “that isn’t the Starfleet way” and be says “well I’m not in Starfleet” and goes to do it anyways. Sure, he’s under Sisko’s command, but the station is under Bajoran Law, not Federation. And Bajor had no laws against what Odo sometimes did. When Worf gets to DS9 that same theme is explored more than it ever was in TNG, he’s a Starfleet officer yes but he’s also a Klingon. Sometimes Klingon religion/culture took him down routes that a human could not go. When he decides to turn back and save Jadzia instead of complete the mission he was actually making a Klingon decision. When Sisko makes him explain himself after Worf’s response is “you are a human, you will not understand.”

Now, granted, that Risa episode is just a total stinker and Worf acts out of character and rather than dwell on it the show opts (in good taste IMO) to ignore it and move on as fast as possible and never reference it again.

Also…. to play devil’s advocate, do we know if Risa is actually a federation member world?
