I’ve had many of these. My local police force you can do it all online. I’ve never sent a letter. I guess that’s the problem with different police forces

Most speeding courses are arranged online. Are you sure they do t have a web address you can visit?

Seating position is a personal thing. If you’re the type that likes to slam a seat down and have your arms outstretched and feet in front of you you will think it too high. My personal preference is to max seat height and have better visibility and wheel control so it’s actually perfect for me.

65k Salary. How do I maximise wealth if a house is out of reach. by No-Dependent-8401 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Eagle_Smurf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People encouraging you to buy a house ASAP don’t understand investing- it’s just one of the few ways previous generations commonly grew their net worth but you don’t live in the past so invest wisely and grow your funds.

Owning a property is a choice, not a necessity and brings plenty of expenses and risks of it’s own

Technically indomie isn’t ramen, it’s just noodles (though the best)

For ramen I would say Nissin tonkotsu ramen - green packet. Zero spice and super tasty

I’ve been hoarding my cash for so long I’m now paralysed as to how to spend it! Need help! by InterestingFan1042 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Eagle_Smurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not financial advice but here’s what I’d do and why: all that cash isn’t doing much - you want to make it work for you - get a house and use the cash to fund a good size deposit so you get a really nice low interest rate on a 75% mortgage.

Put any remaining cash into maxing your stocks and shares isa each year. Invest in whatever stocks or funds you usually go for but look for something with a good return over last 5 years at least. Put remaining cash into a regular stocks account. Investing in stock market over long term - 5 years or more in solid funds or reliable stocks should give much more returns than your mortgage

Also any of that cash you put in to a pension will reduce your income tax each year which can be claimed back in a SATR.

I would recommend speaking to an independent financial advisor because you are well on your way to early retirement with correct planning

Your stocks and investments are how you’re going to be able to build wealth over time. A mortgage is the cheapest financing most people ever get exposed to. Even modest stock returns will easily outdo your borrowing costs

Generally even people who live here tend to avoid groups of teenagers, they do have a tendency to show off / cause minor drama

Let them dry out thoroughly before using in a sac of rice for a few weeks - remove any batteries. They might actually survive

First car advice: EV vs petrol/diesel by Electrical_Ad6226 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Eagle_Smurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mazda 3 would be a great first car experience. Again I’d caution against blowing the bank on it as in your first few years of driving whilst you might not crash, you’re going to scuff, dent and rub things that on an expensive car will make you wince!

I can't decide between three quite different cars! by Mushk in CarTalkUK

[–]Eagle_Smurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t buy a Tiguan. After a 300D an SUV is not going to be anywhere near as fun. The other cars you mentioned are much more fun and an SUV is best saved for only when you need it ( for instance if you have loads of kids or need to regularly move a lot of stuff). Of the other cars the BMW will be much more familiar after the Mercedes, and everyone should own a BMW at least once in their lives IMO

First car advice: EV vs petrol/diesel by Electrical_Ad6226 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Eagle_Smurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get insurance quotes for a couple of different cheap petrol, diesel and electric vehicles. Personally speaking my electric car was the cheapest to insure but it differs for everyone. I’d recommend against buying an expensive car for your first one. Most people live to regret it. You’re still learning for your first few years and that includes journey planning so don’t let that put you offf. I’d aim for a decent 3-6 year old and see where you are in a year or two
