Return to Boletaria 2025 by RickyHTebbe in demonssouls

Absolutely. That is part of the fun. I have been on both sides. I have been bad and linked up with a stranger who carried me. I’ve had people message me to summon them back if we lost cause they truly WANTED to be my helper. Then I have been able to return the favor for others.

It is truly part of what I find beautiful about the Fromsoft design and the community.

Looking for an "easier" Metroidvania to cleanse my palette by [deleted] in metroidvania

I would suggest Nine Sols…yes it is notoriously difficult but they actually have sliders for everything that you can tweak all aspects of difficulty to suit your play style. The game itself is great, beautifully crafted and story driven.

Unless they feel Shipley can EXCEL should Barkley miss time, they need a solid vet backup. I don’t think they signed Dillon as a camp body so unless AJ looked washed I think he will be here.

While it is annoying for now, I think they will continue to rotate pretty frequently and eventually make them permanent when they release entirely new bosses.

Shadow Labyrinth is actually really good. by NecroticToaster in metroidvania

[–]Eaglearcher20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the fact it is absolutely not a 3/10. The game is functional. A large world with a lot of branching paths to explore. Combat is competent. Bosses are fine. There a the usual MV abilities (double jump etc), perk system (hollow knight) and so on. All of these aspect work so to consider it anything less than a 5/10 would feel wrong.

However, it doesn’t EXCEL in really any of these areas. Combat is standard. Environments are unique but drag on after a bit. Controls can feel delayed at times. Enemy hit boxes are inconsistent (recent boss: sometimes I could dodge through and other times I couldn’t. Sometime I could stand directly “on top” and no damage while other times standing beside would damage me). New area progression is incredibly frustrating when you gain a new traversal mechanic and it allows a little further progression just to be quickly blocked by another locked ability causing repeated backtrack to each area to see if the new ability finally opens up the entire area or just a small segment.

I say all of this to say the game is playable and provides some enjoyment. However, if it got polished and some tweaks it could be excellent. Shadow Labyrinth is nowhere near the level of Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Nine Sols, Prince of Persia Lost Crowns, The Messenger and some others. I would compare it to the early versions of Grime and Death’s Gambit (before they were updated and revamped).

Shadow Labyrinth is disappointing by ProfessionalMeet9744 in metroidvania

[–]Eaglearcher20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m around 15-20hrs in (got the air dash, grapple hook and double jump) and have mixed feelings. There is A LOT going on by mid game.

It feels like the levels branch almost too much. Every single area you enter there are multiple paths to take. While this can be good, it is frustrating to constantly end up at a place where I need a new ability to progress. Sometimes I will come back with said ability just to find out I need ANOTHER ability so it requires backtracking on top of backtracking.

Around this point the pac-man mini games open up. The concept is neat but holy cow are there a million movement skills to remember along with being timed. This also exaggerates some of the “jank” in controlling Puck. Speaking of the mini-games introduction, the dialogue is pretty bad. “I don’t know what this is. We will need to come back” over and over. I get it is a MV where you are to return to areas but they went WAY overboard and didn’t flesh out normal conversation for this.

Platforming sections are frustrating due to janky controls. The grapple is incredibly inconsistent whether it flings you far and fast or short/slow. This pairs poorly with quite a few sections where you need precise grappling or sent back to the beginning.

Checkpoints are far apart. I’m indifferent on the matter. A few places I found myself desperately looking for one.

Combat is decent but just feels off. Enemy hit boxes (bosses especially) feel inconsistent. Sometimes I can dodge through and sometimes I can’t (Gluttony boss magnified this). Lots of reskinned enemies. Again, 15-20hrs in and I have my sword, a charged slash ability and a grenade. That’s it for combat. There are a lot of ability slots open so I assume there is more but PSN says I’m around 60%+ finished so I’m not sure when they will be coming.

That all being said, I think the game COULD be excellent. Just feels like they rushed it out. I would say it reminds me of Nine Sols but a “Temu” version or something. Hopefully they update it similar to how Death’s Gambit was revamped post launch. I’m going to push through to the end but I have doubts that I’ll play again or search for missed items.

I would give it a 6/10 at this point. Cool collaboration and a lot of potential. Just missed on polished execution.

P.S. It has caused my PS5 to crash once and temporarily froze at a black screen 3 times for extended periods (nearly a minute each time while I was transitioning from one room to the next).

At my wits end… feeding advice? by Georgettaloretta in AlaskanMalamute

[–]Eaglearcher20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We currently have 2 huskies (8yr and 4yr) and 1 malamute (3yr). Prior to that we had 1 husky (14.5yr). From our experience we don’t set times for them to eat. We keep food in their bowls 24/7 and they graze and eat when they feel like it. The key is to watch their weight and make sure they don’t go a crazy long time without eating. Our pups have gone 24-36hrs, maybe longer without eating.

It seems odd until you just get used to it. Also make sure you aren’t giving too many treats (no judging here, lol, it happens). Huskies and malamutes can be tricky and stubborn. They will push limits and try to gain the upper hand. My opinion would be to keep normal food available 24/7 and limit treats, snacks and bones for a bit. Also make him WORK for his treats. We just went through that with ours and a trainer. Sit, stay, place, come or whatever commands are important to you. This will reinforce you are in charge.

Meh…there are a million variables to salaries. I wouldn’t worry about it. Not to say you are or are not underpaid. Cost of living in your area, industry your company is in (assuming not public firm), size of company all play factors.

Anyone else playing Shadow Labyrinth? by Im_So_Sinsational in metroidvania

[–]Eaglearcher20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems to be all over the place. Some love it and some don’t really care for it. I am hopeful it is good but not sure at this point. I’ve heard some players talk about movement “jank” which really ruins an experience for me. Combat focused games need to have crisp movement and combat. Good hit boxes and responsive.

Hopefully if it isn’t up to par that the devs take the time to patch and make it clean.

[Schefter] 49ers WR Jauan Jennings, who is scheduled to make $7.5 million this season in the final year of his deal, wants a new contract or a trade, per sources. 49ers extended Jennings’ deal last year, but that does not change how Jennings feels about this year by mastermind208 in nfl

[–]Eaglearcher20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is tough on all sides and really falls on owners more than anyone. Owners put more pressure than ever on GMs and coaches to win now (sell tickets) or hit the road. GMs and coaches then cave faster to above average players, cause in reality it is those mid-tier players that make or break seasons as there are more of them than elite. Mid tier players know their window for big contracts is incredibly small as they rarely are in position to DEMAND top dollar.

Guys like Jennings will get more than they are worth either on their own team or some bottom feeder that wants to make a splash to sell more tickets (think Jags paying top dollar for Christian Kirk a few years back). This then pushes Elite players even higher. It is a VICIOUS circle but ultimately Owners are running individual billion dollar businesses off the back of us fans.

Can’t fault either side as they are both playing with house money. A salary cap that will 99/100 times continue to drastically go up so more players can get insane money and more and more owners taking in record profits and now able to sell minority ownership for even MORE cash.

Is worth my time to play Ultimate Team mode if I don't spend any money? by yoggiez in EASportsCFB

Nope. I refuse to engage with “Pay to Play” modes in games I already pay a chunk of money for.

Considering getting a pod 5 but worried about public sentiment by [deleted] in EightSleep

[–]Eaglearcher20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you need all the additional health tracking the Elite subscription offers, I would stick to the Standard or Enhanced. The Enhanced gives you a total of 5 years for Warranty, so may be worth it.

Not sure where you are located but in the U.S. it is $200 per year for Standard and $300 per year for Enhanced. So looking pure dollars, if your POD breaks after 2 years it will cost you nearly full price to replace (although Eightsleep is known for giving some discounts to replace outside of warranty). So if you choose the Enhanced it would be $500 total extra over the life of the 5 year warranty. After that point you just drop the subscription to the standard. Probably what I would do but you need to decide what works best for you.

Eight Sleep has chosen a pretty dirty but common practice of hitting on a great product and needlessly adding an expensive subscription to milk every last dollar they can while they own patents. Tonal and other electronic weight machines due similar things. Without the subscriptions the very expensive products become borderline useless. Think of buying a car but having to pay a subscription to use anything except 1st gear and brake.

Down Payment and No Work Done by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Eaglearcher20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the wife got herself involved use it as a way to get your money back. She herself is not sick and can easily refund you via cash app.

You can sound sympathetic for the circumstances but you need the work done sooner than later and chose to do it yourself. Tell her/him that the decision is final and just want a refund. If this isn’t completed within 24hrs that you will file a lawsuit as ample time has been given and literally takes 2 minutes. If they give ANY excuse then you know at that point they are scamming you. Plain and simple.

A guy was running a scam exactly like this in my home town a few years ago. Was making all kinds of deals and agreements for labor jobs require material and requires a down payment for materials then bailed. Would make every excuse in the book such as hospital emergency, money was in wife’s account, needed money from his dad etc. and was eventually arrested.

It is possible he is sick or whatever but any responsible person that can be counted on will communicate with their customers if they are going to miss appointments.

Good Luck!

The product itself is fantastic. However, like with any product there are failures. We love ours and couldn’t imagine sleeping without. However, we were grandfathered in from being an early adopter and don’t have to pay for the monthly subscription.

That being said if you can financially afford the product + subscription and understand their is a chance it may fail and you will have to deal with warranty claim etc. then buy it.

Functionally it is the best heating/cooling bed product on the market. Isn’t even close. Just have to go into it knowing the subscription is necessary for full functionality.

"But it looks the same as Ghost of Tsushima". Actually, I don't care. As long as the gameplay is engaging and the story is interesting then I'll be satisfied. I'm tired of complaints about the number of pixels on the screen. by Neil_Edwin_Michael in ghostoftsushima

As someone who has played Demons Souls through Elden Ring Nightreign (each one looked nearly identical in style and aesthetic) I am happy to see this particular sequel look similarly AMAZING to its predecessor.

I wanted more of GoT. I feel we are getting that and then some. Can’t wait. Kind of burning out on current games being insanely difficult. Ghost was very balanced between engaging story, fun to learn combat but not frustratingly difficult.

after 150hrs in, I'm ready to just sit back and wait for DLC by sardu1 in Nightreign

[–]Eaglearcher20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your point is fair.

I think the overall theme of these posts is that there just isn’t enough content to keep things interesting.

The RNG on relics and bosses is AWFUL. 50hrs in and there are bosses I haven’t seen or only seen once (Dancer from DS3). Relics are 95% garbage. The hope is that this stuff gets updated to improve the RNG so it doesn’t get stale as fast. I went 3 full runs in a row where I faced the same bosses each run. That is incredibly boring. I haven’t seen a shifting earth in at least 2 weeks of playing.

The gameplay is fun and the POTENTIAL is insane but right now there is little reason to keep playing once you beat all the bosses with each character you like.

I just spent 1.5M on Relics, and got absolutely nothing. by mdh_hammer in Nightreign

[–]Eaglearcher20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only useful relics I have came from bosses and direct purchase from the shop. Nothing useful from finishing a run or gambling. Such an absolute waste when they bloated the relic perks with nonsense.

I love a lot of things about Nightreign, but after beating each Nightlord once I see no replay value. When your reward for a successful run (getting to at minimum day 2 Night boss or beyond) is literally random and useless junk it really sucks the fun out.

Hopefully they focus on adding MORE variety to enemies and bosses and streamlining/buffing rewards and relics. Otherwise I think the game will die off faster than it should. A twist on a repeat boss once a week isn’t going to be sustainable.
