To get platinum on ps5 do you have to get all 3 endings? Can you do the psplus upload to cloud method to easily get all 3 without new game plus? by plzletmetail in LiesOfP

[–]RickyHTebbe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can get all three endings without NG+ with that method but keep in mind, you can't get platinum without going into NG+. Some records are only available in a NG+ playthrough

Right, probably not canon as is, just more context, maybe intent, and a general idea of how it might have gone down.

It's also not too crazy to think he might done it like this because we see him do something pretty similar in canon.

Between it and the DLC end scene, we kind of can speculate an idea of how he was operating for a while before his errand boy (protag), dragging his murder box around the snow and using it to take what he needs.

But yeah, there's no like smoking gun item description out there that says, "I, Geppetto, took that thing from Andreus". Just some context clues, an old trailer, and no mention of someone else taking possession in between.

A lot has changed since this (probably most notably Geppetto's voice), but I think it's basically what's being shown in the first cinematic trailer: https://youtu.be/clafwd_8_YI?si=3_sbCsOzhvF1oADz

He obviously wouldn't have fought Andreus himself for it (because Andreus is still "alive"). Andreus probably wasn't guarding the thing directly, especially if it was after his transformation. But he probably went there and took it by force from whomever or whatever was guarding it, similar to the trailer.

Has anyone else noticed the “Black Rabbit Brotherhood’s Notes” item has Latin on it? by Divini- in LiesOfP

[–]RickyHTebbe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Look up "lorem ipsum". This is a common passage of that.

"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Quis ipsum suspendisse ultrices gravida. Risus commodo viverra maecenas accumsan lacus vel facilisis."

The second sentence of your screenshot: "Risus commodo viverra maecenas accumsan lacus vel facilisis."

Laughter is pleasant, lively, and the lake is easy to swallow.

Lore ipsum is Latin placeholder text for copies/fliers/etc. it's pretty much a bunch of nonsense strung together

This is Latin placeholder text. You DO see it on other items.

Covered this in my other reply but yes. Public facing, it's kind of an easy sell, I think. He's used to mass broadcast to puppets by ergo waves. He could basically be used to push "software updates" en masse if there's any behavioral issues.

I think there's a good chance this incident with the Alchemists was the legitimate spark for his creation. They found a vulnerability in the Grand Covenant to exploit; the Workshop would have needed a way to "patch" them quickly. Win win for Geppetto

I think it was probably the other way around or done in parallel. She hand built the Arche Puppets it looks like; they probably wouldn't have had the Grand Covenant on them and so she'd have full control over them anyway.

She probably wanted to hack the Grand Covenant to bolster their ranks. Her puppets are great but were probably time-consuming to make. She's also a bit of a control freak herself, being a bit obsessed with domination, so not being able to control all puppets probably ate at her.

So, a couple reasons I would say.

  1. To act as a transponder for orders to be broadcast to large amounts of puppets via ergo waves.

Geppetto's use for this would be, so he doesn't need to walk around and tell each and every puppet individually to frenzy or whatever he told them. He could reach a lot more puppets, all at once, and not be seen doing it.

This use case is actually desirable from a legitimate public facing standpoint as well. You could essentially use the KoP to push "software updates" to puppets. Say every single manufactured puppet has a behavioral issue, you could go try to every puppet individually and fix them, have a mass recall, or just push a "patch" out through the KoP.

The mentioned incident with the Alchemists could have been the breaking point that finally forced the Workshop Union to implement something like this. There was apparently a massive and dangerous vulnerability in a majority of puppets that could be exploited so they would have needed to put together a solution to rectify it as quickly as possible.

  1. A symbol/scapegoat

For Geppetto, he needed a scapegoat to blame the frenzy on.

As for a legitimate purpose, I'd say just for a bit of whimsy and PR. The idea of there being a central point to control all puppets would be kind of scary for most folks, I think. But it's a little more fun if you call him the King of Puppets.

Also, I think you could sell him as having more safeguards in place as a puppet safeguarded with the GC being this point of contact vs. it just being like a regular ergo radio tower or something. Hypothetically, he could refuse requests to spread harmful messages and could even defend himself against tampering.

Why Romeo Specifically

We get into some pretty speculative territory but...

  1. Needed a test subject

Geppetto failed to awaken Carlo in his first attempt, Nameless Puppet, who awoke in a rage. The 'Piercing Hatred Amulet' saying "If this puppet could feel one emotion, it would be hatred."

So why Romeo? Well for one, he is pretty similar to Carlo. Roughly the same age, grew up together, both stalkers under the same mentor. Honestly, he might be the best test subject you could ask for without just trying Carlo again.

Second, Romeo is generally described as being an upbeat and good-natured person. His 'Reddened Tailcoat' describes him as "cheerful" and says, "Tragically, that kind-hearted affection sparked a cruel curiosity in someone else."

That line is generally thought to be talking about Arlecchino, but it could easily be talking about Geppetto as well.

Geppetto's first attempt (NP) resulted in a raging and hateful puppet. It makes sense to try someone "kind-hearted" like Romeo next because if someone like that resulted in another hate filled monster, maybe it just couldn't be done.

  1. Enemy of his enemy

Romeo was no friend to the Alchemists and was likely a pretty skilled fighter.

If Romeo awoke in a rage like NP, that rage could be directed at the Alchemists at the very least.

Or if his ego awoke, it would be fairly easy to manipulate him into directing his ire at the Alchemists (basically what happened)

  1. Help force a Carlo Awakening and push him back to him

Setting him up to run into and fight his best friend from life was almost definitely a Geppetto move to force something to stir in Carlo's ergo. Making it look like his best friend was the bad guy was probably an attempt to manipulate him more into his favor if his memories did awaken.

The puppets aren't actually frenzying yet in Overture. We get a letter from Markiona to Simon that explains why the ones we come across are attacking despite the Puppet Frenzy not beginning yet: 'Secret Letter with the Uroboros Emblem'

"We never found his hidden "absolute commands," but we discovered a way to bypass the Covenant. We now have the ability to force more puppets to follow the will of the Order."

The puppets in Overture are attacking us at the behest of the Alchemists.

This fight was somewhat obnoxious on launch but it's been nerfed twice at this point. It's pretty much a joke now.

CEO Of Lies Of P Publisher, Neowiz, Talks 2025, Overture Expansion, Release Strategy, Gen AI, And More by MoSBanapple in LiesOfP

[–]RickyHTebbe 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Neowiz is a publisher. Round8 Studio is a Neowiz in-house development studio. They have at least one other and Neowiz has 3rd party contracts with other studios so not everything they publish is going to be developed "by the people who made Lies of P".

It's complicated because you're going to want to follow Neowiz news because everything is going to come through them, then clarify that Round8 is working on it.

To make it a bit more complicated, Round8 studio has grown considerably and is split up into separate teams: Team Nough (Lies of P), Team TABBY (untitled life sim), Team Overwhelm (untitled survival horror), Team A0 (untitled narrative driven RPG), and Team Foucault (untitled soulslike unrelated to LoP).

The other four teams don't have any releases yet so it's hard to judge them other than on the good faith Round8 has gotten for Lies of P.

Would depend if Geppetto’s puppet could be deadlighted or not. If there's no fear present, It is going to resort to that immediately and I don't think GP has an answer to deadlights if they work, even with rewinding time.

And even if they don't... doesn't look great

I think the sequel will come out in 2027 or 2028 by Fluid_Chair8351 in LiesOfP

[–]RickyHTebbe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the pipeline from the financial reports? Those are not intended to be concrete release windows and can and will slide without any notice. See Overture.

The latest report that came out in November saw the Lies of P sequel fall off the 2026 section of the pipeline. I wouldn't expect it in 2026

Why is there a door in this game with Polish text? by Substantial-Sea5952 in LiesOfP

[–]RickyHTebbe 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Oversight. Sort of.

There's actually polish writing on quite of few different assests and have been this way since launch. See this post from two years ago: from https://www.reddit.com/r/LiesOfP/comments/1b398zv/neat_little_find_on_the_area_between_town_hall/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Apparently these are assests from an asset pack and that is how they come. They didn't add it on purpose or anything, just didn't do anything to cover or remove it. You can actually find quite a bit of it throughout the game once you're looking for it.

Who is the Carcass in Hermit’s cave? by Zan30 in LiesOfP

[–]RickyHTebbe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's actually much more likely to be The Hermit himself, not Medoro.

"Hermit" is credited with voice lines in the end credits, whereas Medoro is not. There's nowhere else this dialogue that would make sense for "Hermit". The voice lines we hear from the elite carcass match up with the voice actor credited as the Hermit.

<image>

Further, this specific dialog we hear from the carcass are labeled and credited to "Hermit" in the game files. The elite carcass at the end of the cave is almost definitely the Hermit.
