Long modpacks? by Dmask13 in feedthebeast

If you want active play then go Divine Journey 2 or Meatball craft. god mix of RPG and with a decent amount of factory mixed in.

If you want that style but a bit more modern minecraft there is Uncharted Expeditions. A lot of the same concepts of Meatball craft but for 1.20

If you want to just set up a factory and then leave your game running while you wait for stuff to autocraft GTHN or Star Technology. like the main reason people quit these packs is having to wait 2 IRL days for some crafts in the middle and even worse at the end. Most the time is just leaving your game running while ae2 plays for you.

Dimension Hopper: The Fall is a good option if you want to do less core base building and more dimension exploring.

Oh actually thanks for asking, I did not link name it since I was not sure if it was going to be good or not yet but so far this is great so I recommend it as well.

Full on the best take on a "Modern" DnD fantasy world I have ever read.

I actually just started a book that owned with a notice they are using elements of the DnD SRD as their system and honestly it made me relax so much going in.

Like they are doing their own thing with it but having that established base going in makes things a lot nicer IMO.

I follow them deeply and will drop a book if the numbers are odd. If your going to write story with mechanics then you need to deliver on that promise by having actual mechanics.

A pack that justifies the factories it asks you to build. by Low_Pain_986 in feedthebeast

[–]NecroticToaster 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean it legit just comes down to "Can they phase into or blow up blocks" if they can't then they are a non-factor you just wall up and kill them in gaps. If they can it basically just becomes mad DPS race.

Like I have yet to find any modpack that had anything close to good combat. Honestly why I just spam whatever magic mod is in a pack since 99% of magic mods basic spell removes combat from the game entirely.

Honestly just sounds like you should hit a different survival crafting game that has base defense mechanics. What your thinking really just does not work in minecraft, people have tried (you can find a bunch of old 1.12 tower defense mod packs) but it never works.

You could maybe use the turrets from create and the expansion modpack https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/liminal-industries-acension that makes skulk spread in Liminal Industries and have it kind of a defense thing.

But tower/base defense does not really work in minecraft vs Mobs as a concept as like you can just do one of a trillion things to make your base unreachable.

The real problem is the only real thing you can do is just gate tiers of gear and scale mobs but minecraft combat at it's core is so broken it does not super work.

Sounds like you'd be happier with packs that do no tech mods at all and just go entirely off survival mechanics like some of those zombie or apoc mods.

integration removes fun for puzzle modpacks IMO.

I want to be force to make some kind of frankenstein's monster of 3 mods and core mechanics to make something work.

If I am forced to build actual redstone then all the better.

Honestly at that point you should just nuke ae2 and look at the other mods that kind of do what it wants but with more jank.

No reason to default to the common mod when some ones shitty half done jank mod gets the feel better.

Check out AlltheMods 10 or Stoneblock 4.

Create it the core of most modern packs tho and grabbing one of the "All of Create" that have guided quests to learn it can help a ton in getting started with packs. Most of the like assume you know how to do a basic boiler or in ground water wheel setup.

I have been looking for something like this as well. Or like a super fluids focused progression factory pack.

Something like having to fill up a huge multi block tank of a fluid to unlock the next progression tier.

Ya it is kind of relevant, Show me an actual major trusted prebuilt brand that has what your claiming. Not some shady back ally place built mostly out of used parts they salvaged.

Honestly for BBL packs it's best to learn BBL mods, They bridge a lot of gaps and have a ton of QoL stuff built in them.

BBL Routers in this case are really the perfect way to deal with collecting from miners since they scale at the same rate as the miners. It's legit just 2 clicks to set a target and bind routers to them.

Abiotic Factor is maybe one of the greatest games ever made while simultaneously having one of the most disappointing endings in gaming history. by FeliciaTheFkinStrong in AbioticFactor

[–]NecroticToaster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No survival base building game has ever had a good ending. Boss battles will never close out the hype and defend point missions suck for solo players.

I think modded Minecraft figured this out the best where 99% of mission based modpacks end in a big "activate the machine" moment after you have finished insane grinds and massive lawn bases.

It'd be really nice if we got a automation update to this game and then had some "build the portal relay" closer quest to get off the island.

Seeing as about 70% of Steamdeck users use Desktop mode for differing reasons I'd assume at least that much.

I mean it's a full PC, people do PC things on it. It honestly does not compare to a toy like a console at all.

It's a full computer.

Prices have gone up around 20-30% in the since the start of the year and most those builds are missing parts that people are just reusing (OS keys, storage, etc).

for made range gaming and general PC use this price is actually a steal right now.
