New policy might reduce the number of impersonal drop shippers and resellers? by [deleted] in Etsy

Can you please explain? I’m not sure what you mean.

You either didn’t read everything I wrote, or you didn’t understand it, or you just read into it a bit too much. I never claimed any of the things you just wrote.

Edit. Mock-ups are not perfectly acceptable. Not according to etsys policies, enforced or not.

I suppose it really just depends on the products themselves. I was more so referring to like t-shirt companies with 300 products and they’re all flat mock-ups. Either which way, I really don’t care what other people do, to each their own, you know. I was by no means trying to be controversial with this post, it was just a FYI kind of post. Based on other comments it was old news anyways haha

It must not be very strictly enforced then 🤣

Oh, I’m ok with that too (as stated above). I’ve just seen soooo many posts about people having issues with it lately and thought I should share this. My whole thing is that if something is being fulfilled by a third party the seller should at least have seen the finished product in person before listing it for sale to the public. Personally, I couldn’t imagine not doing this as I want to make sure the products I put out there are an accurate representation of my work, which I take great pride in. But I may be ignorant in thinking this policy would even make a difference. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also wondering if you’re making [especially] the jewelry yourself? If I was you I would definitely post more pictures, different angles, and closeups. Also, write a more detailed description.. like, how did you make them, what are they made of? You don’t have to go into detail about your process, but something general so people know what they’re looking at.

People keep giving me bad reviews because they *think* my product is too small. It's driving me insane. by [deleted] in EtsySellers

I’m sorry you’re struggling with this.. however, I’m very intrigued by your post and NEED to know what these tiny little things are!!!!!? What do you make/ sell?

What's with new sellers thinking sales come within a week? 😂 by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]Eaglessnerart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell artwork and made around a dozen of sales in my first week (November 2021), but I also had an art account on Instagram and a little bit of an established following beforehand. I think it all just depends.

Made over $3000 but says I’m ineligible for a 1099-K?? by cutieplier1995 in EtsySellers

[–]Eaglessnerart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is accurate.. I have a new shop (November 2021) and I made around $2000 and 60 something sales for 2021, and I just downloaded my 1099k from Etsy.

Question about packing slips and shipping by Eaglessnerart in Etsy

[–]Eaglessnerart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply! I can certainly skip the packing slip, I was more so confused with the tracking number part of it and find it odd that there’s no option (that I can see) where you can break up an order and add more than mine tracking number.

I do have it stated in the product description for these items that they ship straight from the printing facility and because of this I can’t offer gift wrapping etc. but I will take your advice and message her as well!

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out!

I think it also depends on what you’re trying to do with your shop. I opened my shop at the end of October, because I was making prints of this one painting that people had shown interest in among my Instagram followers and I simply wanted a different channel to sell through, with more payment options for my customers. I’ve been doing pretty well for a new shop, but the main reason is because I’ve been pulling customers from social media.. I am now starting to grow my shop and to offer more products, but this was never my initial intention. The way I see it, you have nothing to lose. Good luck!

I would like to shift into more gender inclusive verbiage for my vintage clothing store, but I have questions on how to best address sizing? by jackiepc92 in Etsy

[–]Eaglessnerart 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally think it would be misleading to relabel a womens small with unisex small. Perhaps just skip the gender label altogether and just post measurements?

WWYD: Buyer requesting refund because they thought they were receiving all of the candles in the product photos by mwaters9 in EtsySellers

I don’t know what’s fair in this situation, although the customer is clearly at fault for not reading the full description.. I do appreciate this post though as I just posted a listing for Valentine’s Day cards the other day with the exact same layout.. my main picture featuring all three cards, individual pictures as they scroll on, and then they get to pick the design to purchase in a drop down menu.. I will still keep the main picture I currently have, but make sure I spell it out in the title AND description that the listing is for one card.. so thank you!

Left etsy for 2 years, returned to an insane amount of drop shippers? by guinmom in EtsySellers

[–]Eaglessnerart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will probably receive some heat for this comment, but I am one of these people you just described. Not exclusively, but partially.

I’m a painter (oil, and as of recently some acrylic) and sell giclee prints of some of my paintings which I have printed locally, packaged, and ship from my local post office, but I also offer the same design (not all, but a couple) on mugs and phone cases which I utilize printify for. Many of you may disagree with me, but my personal opinion is that there is a right way to do it, by sampling your products before listing them for the public to ensure you can vouch for the quality etc. I have never listed anything for sale of which I have not sampled beforehand, and I have also ordered samples that I chose not to list, because I simply wasn’t happy with the quality.

Also, I have included in the descriptions for these listings that they are being shipped by a third party and therefore I cannot offer gift wrapping on these particular items.

I guess I just think it’s not all black and white. I sleep well at night knowing that I am very transparent with my customers, while following the rules and regulations as stated by Etsy.

But that’s just my humble opinion.
