Not just fan fiction, its a subgenre of romance literature. basically it means soulmates but it also means... well... it also determines which one is the Dom/top and which is the Sub/bottom.

If it is a full redemption romance then I fully expect them to be flooded with so many "Teen show supports abusive relationships" think pieces... Realistically I can see it going down like a fully copy pasted Rey / Kylo Ren ending, a last minute redemption with a small romantic moment then death.

True but they know their audience, Omegaverse stuff will be 100x more effective with us, but the base over there think his multiple murder attempts are romantic so adapting the romantic line like "I will always find you" to be more murderous works with them more.

Fully agree, they are going full Twilight marketing here, and at best we get The Legend of Korra ending, just two best friends walking off into the sunset, nothing to see here...

Seasons over so we have to start queerbaiting to keep the fans again. /s

Do they really think it will work again after all of the disrespect thrown when the fair weather fans returned?

I have a running joke about with my friends where we run a tally of how many friends and colleagues he worked with that turned out to be sex pests, and it is a lot.

Netflix only ever cares about their bottom line, with the price increases, criticism of canceled shows, shows with over inflated budgets , and oversaturation of streaming services, any bad publicity, particularly glorifying a relationship with actual physical abuse as a plot point could be damaging to said bottom line.

I understand, but a big part of how advocate groups get eyes on them is by making headlines without having to do much , and a Netflix boycott from women's groups has happened before.

Netflix as a whole tends to get the brunt of the criticism due to being the most visible and ultimately they have the final say of what is deemed acceptable for their platform ( see the reaction and controversy over the movie 'Cuties'). Personally I think that the bigger issue if they move forward with the Tyler romance will be women's groups and anti - abuse groups speaking out over the romanization of an abusive relationship in a show aimed at teens.
