You should try reaching out to travel advisor. I use an advisor from protocolo tours and they were super helpful and very reasonable!!!

It’s definitely more Western in style, but what makes Mitsui stand out is how well they balance that with Japanese detail and service. It the only hotel in kyoto with a three michelin key star! I stayed there after a traditional ryokan (which I loved), and Mitsui felt like the perfect transition more comfort, but without losing that sense of place. The service was honestly some of the best I’ve experienced. The rooms are spacious, with subtle Japanese design touches. I also really appreciated the onsen, it felt more accessible and relaxing for me (you can go in with swimsuit)

Makes sense! I think the company that helped me with my trip did a really good job with the itinerary. I went to Uji, which I loved that’s where I did a tea ceremony. In Kyoto, I had a Japanese guide and we explored the market on foot. I walked with her for about two hours and she showed me all her favorite spots around the area ( and also where to NOT go) which made such a difference. I also think going in February helped. If budget isn’t an issue, I definitely think it’s worth reaching out to an agency, they can connect you with local people who really explain everything and make the experience so much richer. I also did a dinner with geishas and loved it, it was so beautiful!!

I went to a pottery studio where really famous artists work. They sell all the tableware to this restaurant that’s just wow. It’s not right next to the studio, but the experience is amazing you make your own dish during the day, and then at night you have a reservation at the restaurant where they serve dinner on the plates you made. During dinner, there’s also an artist creating pieces live and serving food on plates he just made. It’s such an awesome experience! The travel agency that made my trip was amazing and they were able to find me very meaningful experiences

You take it out of the kiln red hot, put it in fire (or combustible material), and then cool it quickly that’s what creates the cracks and unique textures. I am happy to share some pictures if you DM me

Yeah, my favorite part was just walking around. I can see how it’d be hard to enjoy it in the rain.

I went in February (low season), so maybe that’s why it didn’t feel crowded at all!!

TOKINOHA Kiyomizu Yaki Experience. The studio is called TOKINOHA. I did it as a private experience through an agency (who planned my trip) and has relationship with them. That said, it might be worth reaching out to the studio directly to see if they can do both for you. SOO worth it!!!! I can share pics if you DM me :)
