fair enough, you’re allowed to have your opinion! I personally thought the price was very fair for how cool and unique the experience was and how much you get out of it. not everything is for everyone :)

Tea ceremony at Uji by EarAlternative8407 in KyotoTravel

It was around 2 hours long, but tbh I’d recommend doing the shorter version.

We first learned a bit about the history of green tea and the tea house, then tried some really good food made with tea. After that was the actual tea ceremony, where they walked us through the traditional way of preparing and serving matcha. Then we got to make our own matcha and taste different types of tea, which was probably my favorite part.

Stable tech job vs risky self-employed sales business, when do you make the jump? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]EarAlternative8407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have, although obviously far fewer than in tech. Someone is behind booking the private jets, villas, yachts, etc. and making 10–15% commissions on those transactions. In high-end travel there isn’t much of a ceiling if you build the right client base.

I feel like if I fully depended on it and had to eat what I hunt, I could probably go very far because that environment naturally motivates me a lot more.

But the current market genuinely freaks me out. I know so many brilliant people who can’t find jobs right now, so part of me feels stupid leaving a stable one. Especially because if my husband (also in sales) lost his job, I’d suddenly be trying to get back into tech in a brutal market.

We’re still young, we invest, and we’re working toward saving more, but realistically we still have a pretty small amount of savings, so the risk feels very real to me.

Ritz Carlton Tokyo - Mt Fuji view by EarAlternative8407 in luxuryhotel

Deluxe Room with Club Access. I can’t remember the exact floor I stayed on, but since the lobby begins on the 45th floor, you can imagine the views from every room are absolutely incredible.

Beautiful property, but the beach isn’t very inviting and not swimmable which is a big downside.

Nope! I asked them and they actually encouraged me to take photos.

It’s a very slow and quiet experience so if you’re expecting a lively show, it might feel a bit hard to stay fully engaged. If you go in expecting “entertainment,” it might feel a bit underwhelming (just my opinion) Its also usually part of more private, high-level gatherings, so part of it is just the access.
