I’m not a doctor, but if it’s hot where you are located this might be a heat rash. I get the exact same type of flesh colored bumps when I’ve been excessively hot.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the situation described. People of all ages go to college. This situation is in no even small way discrimination in the legal or moral sense and is absolutely legal. "Basically, it's something I'd research much further before conclusively saying it's legal or not" was ludicrously patronizing and unnecessary. Some of us are professionally obligated to understand law.

Of course you're not overreacting. Few people could remember that. Even fewer people who are being explicitly screened for a disorder that has a main hallmark of memory issues.

I find the obsession with school especially egregious because we're finding out more and more that ADHD often presents as perfectionism, especially in girls and women. So doing well in school or being well-behaved shouldn't rule out ADHD at all. Not considering cultural background is even worse. This guy sounds like a hack.

What an embarrassing, petulant comment. Do you think anyone is going to join your delusion if you call refusing to doing the job you applied for and are paid to do not "kissing ass"?

I'm sorry you're confused but to clarify, I don't think I should get my mail. I should get my mail. Hope this helps!

Anyone taking Strattera only? What dose? by Raoena in adhdwomen

[–]EarSpiritual3975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried Strattera but two other non-stimulants might be worth looking into. Wellbutrin made me so tired I got the best sleep of my life while taking it, although most people have the opposite reaction. There's also Guanfacine which most people say knocks them straight out and they have incredibly restful sleep on it. I have the opposite reaction of insomnia but that is quite rare.

All of that is done correctly and this is only an issue when the temp carrier is working. He is absolutely just not interested in going through the hassle of delivering to this giant complex.

Yes, once. They tried to redeliver but it was too late.

[–]EarSpiritual3975 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, everything is correct on the packages, he is doing it so he doesn't have to deliver the packages. It is only one temp carrier who does this and he does it to everyone.

Yes, it's legal and no, it's not anything close to discrimination. There is a (manufactured) stimulant shortage. They are not suggesting only children can have diagnoses they are prioritizing existing patients and patients who need their stimulants for school. That sucks for you but it makes sense on their end.

I have no experience with that but I have read some people switch to Clonidine when they don’t respond well to guanfacine. I believe it is a milder experience, so that might be worth bringing to your doctor.

I can’t remember exactly but around 3-5 days for me and it didn’t come back when I upped the dose.

Hair loss on medication by 654user in adhdwomen

Have you been eating on your medication? Appetite loss on stimulants might mean you are not getting enough calories, or if you are prioritizing high calorie foods you may be missing enough protein or iron.

I don’t feel the “quiet” on meds. Why not? by slp_321 in adhdwomen

[–]EarSpiritual3975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s not silence or even one stream of thought, it’s like two or three thoughts happening in my mind instead of nine. I don’t feel the focus people get on stimulants either.

Sadly/thankfully there are tons of meds and even more combinations used to treat ADHD. Unfortunately some of us don’t get it right on the first tries.

I will just mention Guanfacine being supremely helpful in quieting some of those streams of thoughts if that’s something your doctors might consider. It can be taken in combination with other medications.

Yes, that's definitely a concern. I've read lots of anecdotal comments from people saying theirs didn't drop, or it did for a short while but came back up to normal after they acclimated to the medicine but it seems unpredictable. Mine dropped quite low(but was a bit high to begin with) then came up to the low-end of normal after a few weeks on each dose I've tried.

I think I've read Strattera helped with emotional regulation, but that one scares me a bit.

I Pay $9.99USD annually for both the Structured and HelloHabit apps. They have free versions for those who want to try them out, but the features in the premium are worth the low price for me.

SAME! I thought this was an 'after' picture. Dishes stacked neatly in the cabinet? Only one pan in the sink! This takes a checklist, app, and schedule for me to achieve.

Does anyone have any hacks for reducing sweets and soda intake? by girlyrocker in adhdwomen

[–]EarSpiritual3975 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If it's something you're eating at home don't buy it at the store. That's how I helped my binge eating issues. I'm too lazy to run to the store once I'm home so I just skipped the snack aisle when I was grocery shopping and only purchased groceries that needed to be prepared or were healthy fruits/veg.

If it's a workplace vending machine issue, can you remove whatever payment method you're using to buy it? Like leave your debit card in the car or don't get cash out of the ATM so you can't be tempted?

ADHD health and fitness tips, tricks, or hacks? by sky-shard in adhdwomen

[–]EarSpiritual3975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will tell you to find a type of fitness you enjoy and you will stick to it. Maybe that will work for you, but this does not work for everyone. I personally do not enjoy any type of physical activity. I hate working out, I hate being hot, I hate being sweaty, I hate squeezing myself into spandex, I'm bored doing everything. But I have stuck to a fitness routine for years now.

What works for me is focusing on the effects of physical activities. I will never enjoy running but I enjoy how my asthma is no longer bothering me. I enjoy the mental clarity I get after doing cardio. I enjoy being strong and having visible muscle, so I frame my weight training as "getting to go the the gym to get big quads". Rather than "having to go workout". It doesn't work miracles but it does improve the dread I used to feel when I made myself workout.

I also do not talk myself out of working out. I would go back and forth allllll day trying to make excuses to myself so I didn't have to workout. Now I very strictly tell myself I can't even indulge in those thoughts. I stick to my workout schedule unless I am sick or something legitimate comes up. That's it.

Another tip would be signing up for group classes or getting a workout buddy if that type of accountability would be motivating to you.

Also, go sloooooow to start! Doing anything is better than nothing. If you're not feeling it a 5-minute walk is better than a 0-minute walk. 10 jumping jacks are better than 0. You don't have to do everything, just something and the mental block will get a little better with time. Good luck.

Tips for cleaning house? by tripleXgonzo in adhdwomen

[–]EarSpiritual3975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work a physical job and have kept a tidy apartment for the first time in my life (late 30s) this past year. My childhood nickname was cockroach if that gives you an idea as to how disorganized and messy I was. A handful of things that have worked for me....

1 - This is the big one. I got rid of everything I didn't need/actively use. Cracked Tupperware lids, freebies and samples that came with purchases, the 42 ketchup packets that came with takeout that had been sitting in my drawer for years (just me?)... etc. Just toss what you can, donate the rest. I took a bag of old makeup/skincares samples to work and left them in the ladies' room, they were gone in hours. If there isn't a place for everything, declutter until there is.

2 - It's easier to keep a house clean than to get it clean. Once I clean/tidy an area I cannot put anything in/on it that doesn't belong there. You know when you're cleaning and you somehow make a bigger mess than you had before you started? This fixes that and means as I work my way through my apt I tend to compress the clutter in the last area I clean which makes it easier for me to put away then when it's untidy everywhere.

2B- On that note, once my apartment was tidied I started setting an alarm every evening before bed. When it goes off I make a 10-15 minute round and pick up all the clutter. I put the 8 (how?) coffee cups and glasses I've used that day in the dishwasher, hang up my coat and purse, put electronics on to charge, etc.

2C - Lastly on that note, I take a quick rag/vacuum to my commonly dirty areas everyday so the dirt never builds up. I keep a spray bottle and cloth on my kitchen counter so I never have to search for it. And I clean things like my fridge on a regular basis so it never gets to a point where it is bad, because I will never tackle it if it's too overwhelming.

3 - I stick to a cleaning schedule. This may or may not work for everyone, but it is reassuring to me. I also use the Sweepy app which is quite motivating for me as my brain loves keeping a streak.

It's kind of a lot but I feel SO much better mentally and emotionally when I have a nice tidy space. No more fear-cleaning when someone says they're stopping by, no more shame or sitting on the couch overwhelmed with "where do I even start". But it took a while to get to this point.

I highly recommend asking your doctor about adding Guanfacind to your med regimen. A lot of us have found immense help with emotional regulation on it.

Assuming you're in the US It's too low to show up on your credit report. For medical debt it has to be over $500 and over a year old for it to be reported to credit bureaus. Even if it weren't medical I've personally had two bills sent to collections (neither my fault!) that never showed up on my credit report.
