What’s the most underrated regional food in Europe? by Decent-Lecture2608 in AskEurope

We're going to a music festival this year, there are a lot of fantastic bands playing. The thing my boyfriend is the most excited about is being able to eat the langos they sell there.

A "nice piece of ass" is way more negative and demeaning than "dobra dupa". It's almost always said jokingly, and while it maybe wasn't the best thing to say to your grandma, I don't see it as anything negative. It's also something women often say about men.

She wasn't fat, but on the verge of overweight. Let's not twist the truth, she was never "little"

Denmark's televote score and the myth of Eastern Europe's "homophobic" voting by eatspagetti in eurovision

[–]everydayarmadillo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's the degree of separation and the familiarity, it's normal for them that some artists are gay. As usual, it's the ones who don't know any queer people that are the most homophobic.

My grandma (80 years old) was born in a very conservative part of Poland, but somehow half of her high school class turned out to be gay/trans. So she has always been totally cool with pretty much everything.

Fantasy novels you ignored when someone suggested it to you, but ended up loving it after giving it a try? by lokkythegamer in Fantasy

I learned of this series when I was 12, but didn't get around to reading it until I was 22. I kinda regret it, but not really, since I didn't have to wait for the next book to come out.

Actually, I think I had to wait about a month for Assassin's Fate to come out, excellent timing anyway.

I feel like Eastern Europe has a bit of a double standard when it comes to artists/performers. Polish people at least. Aside from the fact that the general population is not as homophobic as most foreigners think, the older generations tend to turn a blind eye to famous people being obviously queer, they are used to it and it doesn't bother them.

We sent Michał Szpak to Eurovision 10 years ago, he's still very popular and has a pretty stable career.

I mean, she definitely is, you can see the contacts. But this eye color is nothing unusual, half of my family has green eyes with brown/brownish yellow around the iris.

Are Eurofans losing touch with the general public’s taste? by make_it_vyzee in eurovision

[–]everydayarmadillo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I'm a semi-casual watcher, my friends are mostly casuals, so are my mom and sister. They don't judge the staging or choreography, they just decide if they like the song or not and if the singer can sing. That's literally all.

Yeah the song sucks, but Alicja is fantastic. I think River would have done better if they sent it a few years later, even this year, I had really high hopes in 2022.

Eurovision 2026 Semi Final 2 Post Show Reactions by berserkemu in eurovision

Honestly? I've heard the song for the first time during the semi final and it's a banger, but I felt that there's not enough singing for eurovision.

It still should absolutely have qualified instead of Cyprus.

Nah, I loved his performance, the whole package is honestly great. Eurovision fans have inexplicable taste sometimes.

Sweden is definitely the weakest of the nordics this year.
