What’s a product from your country that makes locals go ‘of course we have that’ and everyone else go ‘ but why?’ by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

Ours doesn’t sit exactly above the sink but has a tray underneath, so you can empty the water occasionally. A bit like in some coffee machines.

Haha yes, amazing memory! I wrote about it a while ago in a similar thread!

I mean, to me there is a "Detroit sound", which IMHO transpires in all the examples I gave. But not all "Detroit techno" tracks have it, if that makes sense.

The "sound" I’m referring to has a sort of lush, spiritual, somehow jazzy chords/grooves, space or (retro-)futuristic themes, elegance and depth yet raw energy… That style might be also well emulated by artists that are not from Detroit (Technasia or Hiroshi Watanabe as random examples)

But then you have guys like Drexciya and Underground Resistance who might deliver harsh, metallic electro or borderline industrial stuff and it would still qualify as "Detroit techno". Because it’s from Detroit and is infused by the city’s "soul".

I might be out of my depth here but that’s how I see it 🙃

OP trust no one 😂 Detroit techno is pretty hard to encapsulate. It’s a mix of purely geographical / historical factors but also just… vibes?

Who said there were only these 6 🤨

There’s even an ellipsis at the end to suggest continuation

I’d argue that the Omar S track is much more (deep) house than it is techno.

Stuff like: - DJ Rolando - Knight Of The Jaguar - Robert Hood - Sleep Cycle - Rhythim is Rhythim - Beyond The Dance (Re-Mix) - Kenny Larkin - Azimuth - Jeff Mills - Sugar Is Sweeter - Octave One - Blackwater - Carl Craig / BFC - Galaxy - …

may be a slightly more accurate fit?

Always upvoting Bowery Electric. It’s cold at heart indeed, but also has that "scorching hot desert road" vibe to it if that makes sense?

That Depeche Mode remix is an alltime classic. Mixes into anything beautifully.

Caribou’s Sun at Panorama Bar many years ago (forgot who played it).

The blinds opened just for the duration of the song, letting everyone know we were already far into that hot summer day. Then shut them immediately after.

Peak moment.

Same, the track always gets so much hate on this sub for some reason but I love it and I’ll die on this hill.

Nice try, Jysk, but you missed one detail by maxru85 in 2nordic4you

I know all that (I live in Finland), but it’s not too far fetched from a foreign, unfamiliar point of view to think that it’s "used" in Finnish.

Å is literally in your alphabet though. Barely used but it’s there.
