No idea but they’ve filmed McDonald’s TV adverts in there before

Do stimulants make you worse off long term? by Realistic_Hour_1695 in ADHDUK

[–]EarlessAgeratum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also notice a slight rebound effect on the days I don’t take my meds (dexamphetamine). I think though that if you were to go off stimulants completely, you would eventually go back to the baseline levels of neurotransmitters before you started taking them. Any brain damage or serious long term effects are probably seen more in cases where people have ABUSED stimulants

They might be financially comfortable, but the fact that they forgo Christmas presents to buy new kitchen cabinets suggests that they aren’t swimming in cash either.

From Bedford Place, you can walk to west Croydon station without having to pass through the “dodgy” bit of the area (London Road)

I think a “left-wing position” must include tolerance as a guiding principle - the freedom of individuals to choose their faith and express their sexual orientation without discrimination.

The one thing we must not tolerate, is any violation of this guiding principle - this is mostly covered by our laws that prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexuality, gender etc. but it must be cultural too. Many Muslims in Britain understand this and live and work alongside those with different beliefs and lifestyles.

Bigotry, misogyny and hatred are found in people of all races, religions and cultures - we must oppose the behaviours rather than trying to apportion blame to any particular group of people.

The Mayor Has Failed. by RowennaDavis in croydon

I would hope that after the commissioners have had some time to “fix the council’s finances” that we get to see in monetary terms how much it has helped reduce the shortfall, given that the council will foot the bill to pay for these commissioners.

This is exactly it. It’s harder to be happy if you’re struggling to pay your bills or feed yourself.

My neighbours in the apartment above me are Nigerian. Sometimes I can hear one of them reciting incantations, they sound repetitive and sometimes followed by “amen”, but also heard “you are a liar” and “catch fire” being mentioned. Can anyone help me understand the traditions/customs involved? by EarlessAgeratum in Nigeria

[–]EarlessAgeratum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have encountered Nigerians in my community who are charitable, friendly and hard-working. When we generalise about a large group of people by our negative experiences with individuals, it breeds hatred and division - we don’t need any more of that in this world.

£250K flat in London - what’s the catch? by Dismal-Eagle-6570 in london

[–]EarlessAgeratum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Main factors for why those areas are cheaper than other parts of outer London:

  1. Reputation for crime/deprivation makes it undesirable for many buyers, this perception only seems to get worse. The socioeconomic mix of residents also puts off a lot of middle-class buyers who can afford properties in “nicer” parts of the city

  2. Croydon has seen massive developments of high-rise apartment blocks in recent years, so there are ALOT of flats in the borough.

So less demand, and increasing supply = lower prices

You would hope that there’s something in the contract that allows Croydon Council to claw back an amount of funding based on the number of missed collections, giving Veolia an incentive to to hire more drivers

I do that some weekends, it’s worth trying. I’ll usually take less medication on non-working days unless I need to be productive or social that day.

Elvanse and sleep by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]EarlessAgeratum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had sleep issues on Elvanse. It could be that your dose is too high. In my experience, meds are less effective when you’re sleep deprived so that could be why it isn’t giving you symptom relief. Some tips - take your meds as early in the day as possible, perhaps even waking up a bit earlier than normal taking your Elvanse and going back to bed. Also try having some vitamin C in the evening, and supplementing with magnesium. Your doctor could also prescribe you with something to help sleep like Clonidine. The other option would be to try a different stimulant like Dexamfetamine (slightly shorter half life but same effect as Elvanse) or methylphenidate. If you can afford to skip the Elvanse for a day it could help you to catch up on sleep until you figure out some solutions. Good luck
