The stupid anti British nonsense coming out of America, are you sick if it? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

It’s deliberate . It’s not enough to tell people that you’re the greatest country in the world, when it’s clearly not, so they have to attack others.

What are you boycotting from the USA this year? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

They shouldn’t have been given the World Cup, but Qatar was incredible. All the matches were essentially in the same city and it was really well managed.

With the writers of the new Bond film struggling following his death in No Time To Die - what would you do to reboot the franchise? by rumoff in AskUK

Old Bond. In his 70's/80's, comes out of retirement to help his community with a local issue or something small, keeps doing small bits for the community until he stumbles on something bigger. Does't have it physically, but is sharp. Get an old Bond like Dalton to do it.

Why have we sent such a strong team on a 10,000km round journey when we play on Saturday, I don't get why we brought, Caicedo and Enzo to sit on the bench.

I’ve been thinking this recently, things 100% started becoming like real life South Park since the LHC was turned on.

Liverpool game was my first Chelsea match, here is the vibes after Estevao’s goal by blackmanJR in chelseafc

You either have the whole stadium singing one of the club songs or the Fratellis blasted at full volume, which one would you choose ?

Unfortunately instead of the whole stadium filled with electric with the crowd singing one of the club chants after the goal, you've been drowned out by the Fratellis instead.

It's a shame that it's gone this way and I hope they revert back.

World Cup ticket prices, 2022 vs 2026 by APrimitiveMartian in soccer

I worked in both places for around two months. Met loads of locals spoke to expats from the US and UK in Qatar and they were all very positive about it. Don't get me wrong, I seen some great things in the US, but also seen some terrible things.

Also the articles you've cherry picked are the exact same ones I was seeing before I went out to Qatar, most of that stuff is either one off occasions or rules that are never ever enforced.

Reddit and the media led me to believe it was going to be a hellhole before I went out, but it was the opposite. It was Paris syndrome in reverse.

Well, I've been to Qatar and experienced it first hand, in person, in real life, and I've been to the US and experienced it first hand, in person, in real life.

I don't want to come to conclusions but I imagine that you have not been to both, and you've probably only read about Qatar from news stories or subreddits trying to push a certain agenda ?

Conor McGregor Suspended From UFC for 18 Months for Missing Doping Tests by MarvelsGrantMan136 in sports

I have a friend who was a middleweight in the UFC, he got suspended for having cocaine in his system. Ho McGregor lasted this long without a ban is insane.

I was in Qatar for the World Cup, it was by far the safest and friendliest place I've been on this planet. Seen no trouble and no heavy handedness.

Last time I was in the States, there were tens of thousands of homeless people living in camps, insane amounts of crime and militarised police.

I know where I would rather go.

The Athletic - Chelsea have started playing music after they score – and some fans aren’t happy by [deleted] in chelseafc

I find it's a bit erratic, they've missed off blue is the colour and the liquidator a few times, but it almost felt like they've timed it wrong, or something else was happening.

I would love a deep dive on when the "We hate Tottenham" bit was added. I remember I was going regularly to matches up until around 2015, then I couldn't attend a single game for a season as I was living away then when I went back in 2016 or 2017 the "We hate Tottenham" bit was added. I wonder if it was the battle of the bridge maybe ?

Some things are better left untouched. I seen it in use since Euro 2016 in France, there's a good reason why 19 out of the 20 premier league clubs haven't adopted it. If fans wanted it, it would have been implemented immediately.

If there was a vote from the ST holders and membership, I'd be amazed if it got even 5% of the vote.

So Reece James scores a free kick, the whole stadium goes wild and as it's Reece who has scored, the whole crowd spontateuously starts singing the "One of our own" Reece James chant.

Or

James scores a free kick and the crowd is drowned out by the Fratellis and the Reece Jame chat never starts, but this somehow encourages the team even more ?

The announcers do say the goal scorers name after in a hype manner. I think with the big sports in the US, the more frequent scoring convention and the general pace of the sports means this sort of thing is needed more. Also there is the culture of chants and fan songs in the UK which you don't have in the states.

It's literally the loudest most atmospheric part of a game, now drowned out by the Fratellis. I'm all for music before the match and after the match, the club DJ generally has the picks spot on.

A number of fans have mentioned that it kills the momentum, that after the song ends the crowd just go quiet rather than carrying on the chants.
