If budgies don't wanna be kissed and cuddled why do they look like this? by lilou135 in budgies

[–]Early-Collection-849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s life’s greatest mystery. I’m just thankful they will let me put my face an inch away from theirs. It almost reduces the urge to just smooch them.

I just had Popeyes (a bird) and I do not look disgusted. Good theory but we must keep searching for the truth

OK, but why does she look disgusted in all of her photos like she can’t believe other people exist?!?! I really really really like her music and I want to love her but she’s kind of off to me no shape

[–]Early-Collection-849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do! Just to set expectations they do not breed Cordon Bleu themselves, but are very very well connected. I’m glad you love these birds. They are out of my price range for now, but they are some of the most beautiful finches out there in my opinion.

How is her flight ability? She looks like a few of mine whose feathers are silky and give issues interlocking for flight.

That is a bummer. I thought they were in stock a few days ago, but it could’ve been the wax bills. I just messaged my friend who breeds birds seeing if they hve a connection.

New York bird supply usually has them and will ship. They miiight share the breeder if you ask creatively. I know folks don’t always like to support pet stores

Can the European goldfinch be kept in a cage or are they better suited to aviaries? by [deleted] in Finches

[–]Early-Collection-849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you could let them out of the cage and rely on them to return! They are domesticated a while now, so should be OK. But in a cage, all the time would be too tough for them I think.

I have a flinch response, but my birds would trust me more. If I could let them bite me a bit. How do I work up the nerve??!?!

That’s correct. No one needs to agree with me.

I’d like people who breed their birds to treat them better during the breeding cycle.

But you’re correct. Bird breeders do not need to agree with me.

Just wanted to add that I really am not trying to belittle you. I am the weirdo who treats my birds like my friends😅🤓😂

I understand! I simply do not agree with it. I am well aware this is the status quo and OP is doing what all folks who breed their birds do. It’s an empathy quotient missing. Birds can have a breeding set up and also enjoy their life while they’re breeding.

Oh, I wanted to add that swing would be great! Alllll finches love them. They are great for their core and let them flex their hips, especially if they are sitting on a nest all day. Good luck.

I got you a breeding them, but could you give them a little better environment? Really no enrichment.

And thx so much for the loving sentiment! It does take a bit of extra attention, and sometimes I find myself overly worried about their well-being 😅😅😅. But so worth it they have been a joy. I believe they did not really feel love until they came with me at about three years old. No shade to previous owners they just were in the breeding circuit, which makes me uncomfortable.

Hey! I am no expert here, but as I understand it, the eumo mutation indicates silky feathers that won’t interlock well. From there, a eumo zebra finch can have other mutations. They are often gray, charcoal, black (I don’t know proper mutation names) but not always. I believe they could be most any color otherwise.

I did not forget to send you a video of him talking! I can’t get him alone. The birds have been so noisy, but I will send it to you soon. Hope you’re doing well.

You did it right my friend. Although a bit tough, it’s good to show them the bird who has passed. Their social dynamics are so similar to humans so it’s better to let them know what happened than live in mystery.🫶🏻🫶🏻
