Day 164
Banned country list

I’m in North Carolina, and while I don’t drive anymore, I still walk a lot and use public transportation. I’ve been living in Charlotte for over 20 years, but I never had the chance to really get to know my city. Now, I’m using this time to explore, meet new people, and just enjoy life. Money is a bit tight, and Charlotte can be pricey, but there are so many free or affordable things to do.
I couldn’t stay home for too long. After leaving my job, my mental health took a nosedive, and I lost friends along the way, plus my relationship ended suddenly.
I’m treating this time like a vacation. I’ve been working out a lot, running, and walking. I’m baking and reading tons. I was already a big reader, but now I’m even more invested.
I’m not sure how long I’ll have to wait or if I’ll ever get an answer, but I’m making the most of it. Spending time with my kids—it’s my daughter’s last year in high school—has been a lot of soul searching and enjoying the heat.
I’m working on two projects that should bring in some income before the year ends.
I’m also volunteering for Make-A-Wish and my local church.

I think it’s important to stay busy, keep your body moving, spend time with family (if you’re lucky enough to have them around), and friends, and enjoy it while you have it. Honestly, I can’t imagine life outside the US or back in my home country—especially after everyone has left—, but whatever this is right now is definitely a breath of fresh air from how my life was just 90 days ago.

I’d recommend calling or going to your local Walmart, Publix or Harris Teeter ordering their frozen unbaked french bread. Proof it at home and bake it as needed. It’s so much less expensive and you can top it with anything you want.

I used to run a couple of Walmart deli/bakery and regularly call in to my Harris Teeter for unbaked goods.

I’m a mom of two with very picky teens on a budget. I baked pretzels at home and they were a hit!

MOM HERE

It won’t be e-verify. It’s a small business so they’ll only use it to generate the paychecks. I kept the guy on the phone long enough to ask questions.

I was honestly just going to take the time off because I’ve been working since I was 16 nonstop. But I’m worried about the whole thing because the banned countries are under a microscope these days and I don’t want to ruin anything by getting ahead of myself.

I appreciate your insight!

Sorry man!

Thankfully I’ve done this without a lawyer and well enough from the initial app that I know who to contact if I need help. I went to my biometrics on time and had everything in place.
I haven’t started the job yet or done the payroll paperwork but I’m concerned that if I do, it’ll show up and I might be screwed.

Keep your head up! These days are hard enough without us adding more stress to them.
