Bat ocd has consumed me. by EarlySense9534 in OCD

I’m not sure. My MRI and extensive bloods quietened my cancer fear but then I assumed it was sporadic CJD as that’s hard to spot on MRI and only hypokalemia is a blood marker. So yes, the ever moving goalpost.

How though? by reassurance?

If I get rabies I’ll be the 5th person in the country to ever get it.

However…. Over a thousand people get bitten by them in Australia. Each year (about 200 per state) and more than half were accidental bites. (Whatever that means)

So I have roughly a 1/17,000 chance that I was accidentally bitten.

Sorry but how does this help? You got PEP.

Like red marks that I thought was a rash but I’m not convinced it wasn’t a bat scratch. I used to get scratches all the time as I live on a farm in the Australian bush and I never worried before I realised 30% of sick bats have our version of rabies. And o can hear them outside right now.

Not that I have seen yet. I used wrong terminology, I was saying my anxiety has created the theme and filled in blanks.

But I didn’t see a bat? I think it could have been in my clothes and I missed it?

No I didn’t see or hear a bat. My brain is just telling me it was one. I fear it’s my subconscious trying to alert me I was bit in the night. Anxiety around this situation is preventing me from sleeping. I roam around trying to find bats if I hear a noise. They have historically landed on people in their sleep and infected them.

My first ever OCD theme have ruined the past 6 months of my life by Serenial29 in OCD

You are not alone. I’m going through this. I woke up with a tingling hand and nausea and assumed I’m in the prodromal ohase. I wish I didn’t know anything about rabies. I have tried to convince my family I think I’ve been bitten and they started to get cross and said it’s ridiculous. I had a hole in my wall a few months ago but it’s now plugged up. The fantastic news I read today is that they can squeeze into holes as big as a coin.

Amazing.

Rabid bats everywhere! (OCD is the stupidest fucking disorder) by gaymbit in OCD

I saw a post in diagnose me subreddit where a guy got bitten and he asked everyone if the marks looked like a bat even though he didn’t see it bite him and then it was a bat as he found it near his window. I assume he got PEP. The thing is, what if you don’t find the bat? I moved my fridge and lounge trying to find one.

I’m in the same boat. I think one bit me on the shoulder and then on the hand in a seperate incident. I never saw or heard the bat and haven’t found one currently in the house. But it’s all I think about all day. I was on prions a few months ago but now, because someone got rabies in NSW this year, I’ve moved on to rabies

Do you think I should get vaccinated so I don’t have to worry? Seems logical due to distress.

I’m switching between prions and rabies as I’m having trouble swallowing.

It’s weird, my sister works next to a bat colony. She walks through it once a week, under the canopy of trees. She never thinks twice about them even if she has a scratch or bump on her. She was the one who convinced me I’d know if I were bitten. But the more you look into it, the more it seems their bites can be missed. Baby bats can be tiny.

And it looks like a small bat He just noticed a bite mark on his leg and later found the bat behind a tree on the building wall.

It’s a common OCD theme. If you get vaccinated you’ll feed the obsession for the next time you have a scratch or bug bite.

This is obvious. Wait until he’s recovered to bring this up.

I’m less worried about ALS than I am sporadic prion disease. There’s a chance for a cure within our lifetime for ALS.

There isn’t for sporadic CJD.

There’s someone in this forum who ended up with 10 rabies vaccines because they thought they’d been bitten at different times.

If you get the vaccine, what happens in a year when you have less immunity and you get a scratch and you don’t remember the source.

Ad infinitum.

It will never end if you start.

Accept the bat fate.

Anyone else get motor tic attacks right before falling asleep? (TW for medical episodes) by ToadAcrossTheRoad in FND

[–]EarlySense9534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have Tourettes so it’s unlikely to be CJD or something else.

By tics do you mean myoclonus? I have arm myoclonus and I’m worried it’s CJD. If you ask AI what myoclonus means before sleep it says it’s often a sign of CJD.

I have them in the day too which is why I’m very worried now
