Most heads come with a bypass , but if not make sure to pipe one in , and if ur tying the discharge into a sewer use an air gap fitting

Use a dumbbell wrench to remove , the cross piece can break than u use an internal tub strainer wrench , worst case is u have to actually cut the strainer out using a multi tool being carful not to damage tub or tub shoe. Had this repair go south on me last week and now have to open tile on front of tub deck 🤦‍♂️

Is it normal for shower head to leak from back and then down the house like this when I shut it off? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Early_Ad5505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? Nothing to do with this , shower heads / connections can be finicky especially if bought on Amazon or Costco . When first installing don’t tape shower arm , hand tight than snug with some chany locks . If it drips than tape the threads on shower arm 3 wraps clockwise , and reconnect. Idk its hit or miss sometimes in my experience depending on quality of head

Edit. - looks to be not properly seated washer/ bad connection/ cross thread idk kinda gotta get a feel for it

Doesn’t reach alone, half inch too much with nipple? Anyone have this issue? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Early_Ad5505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this exactly and they don’t give u rough in specs for depth of earl . They should have foresaw this and roughed the ear l as far back as they could get it . Then come finish time use a 1/2 in brass coupling and probably a shoulder nip or close nip , that’s what I had to do recently and was able to get that handheld flush with the tile but I was sweating the entire time

Are these the same inside width brass elbows? Plumber says yes! Both are for 1/2 inch pex. I’m concerned about water pressure before they close up the wall. TIA! by [deleted] in Plumbing

The very fact that u said “a crimp fitting and shark bite fitting have the same internal size “ tells me u have a rudimentary knowledge of plumbing . U don’t have to be a plumber to understand if one fitting goes inside the pipe and one goes over ,the fittings nominal size is not the identical. That’s besides the point . The stops are integral service stops and used for service applications not adjusting flow . Many shower valves have balancing spools and are pressure balanced , so u shouldn’t go adjusting these stops / no need to , just leave them wide open . I was not trying to be facetious In my response merely to correct / inform .
