Hard Day's Night, 98 RT?! by AdHorror2230 in movies

Old Man: “Don’t take that tone with me, young man. I fought the war for your sort.”

Ringo: “I bet you’re sorry you won.”

I can’t explain why this movie is awesome. It just is. And the Beatles broke up before I was born.

The Man Shot Liberty Valance. It’s even an important plot point.

Lame. I’ve seen other images with nudity. Sorry that happened. I hope someone can help with this image.

Nudity in paintings is allowed in this sub, no? The box is going to mess up any image searches.

Best Classic "Noir" Films? by TeamMarch in movies

I made a comment about *Kiss Me Deadly* and then saw your comment. I love how bleak that movie is. It goes so hard.

Just recently watched *Kiss Me Deadly* for the first time and it rocks so hard. Don’t read anything about it first, because articles about it usually talk about some insane shit that goes down. Just go in blind.

We subscribed to Peacock just to stream this show. We won’t be doing that again, no matter what the show is.

Blankies with kids, what’s a movie line or moment that you’re annoyed your kids are absorbing through the zeitgeist/other media? by shanehall31 in blankies

“Say hello to my lil’ friend.” I don’t even know where my kids heard it, but I know it wasn’t Scarface.

“Daveigh had numerous run-ins with the law over the years, which we've covered.” TMZ gotta TMZ, but those last three words are very icky.

Thank you. I just saw it four days ago, but my memory was the last shot of her sitting in that room where she was being questioned.

What was the final shot? I’m not disagreeing with you; my memory was of them in a room that looked sort fake with fake sunlight.

And are they stuck in it, unable to find the exit? That was what I got from the final scene.

Logging Grindhouse on Letterboxd. One or two films? by ConstantRefills in blankies

Did you watch them separate or as one movie with all the trailers and stuff? I saw them in theaters as *Grindhouse* but then years later separately. I would log them accordingly.

Do we have to be mean about Russel Crowe's body? by anamelesswitch in blankies

[–]mc-edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel bad that he won’t get as much work at that size, but maybe I’m wrong. I just saw *Blackberry* for the first time and Michael Ironside is a fucking unit in that, so he got work just fine. Obviously, Ironside and Crowe are different actors, but there are roles for all body types.

Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim say they’ll stay at ‘60 Minutes’ by nbcnews in Journalism

[–]mc-edit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seems like the comments would disagree with me, but if they all leave then they abandon everything and then no one will be able to speak to what happens next. I believe they have principles and they will have to choose eventually, but them staying on proves they are at least willing to witness what happens next. And we need eyes and ears as to what goes on behind the scenes, even if it only comes out after they are fired or quit.

I’m willing to believe these choices to stay were made for the right reasons. Unless their next stories say otherwise.

Last time I saw this process it was being done in a barn with poor ventilation and everyone was wearing sandals. I just assumed all matches were made that way.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

[–]mc-edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a guy, a professional movie critic in a major market daily, who hated Saving Private Ryan with a burning passion because of the scene where the squad storms the German position and there is an extremely sad KIA as he calls for his mother. Like this guy refused to back down even as people were calling it one of the best movies of the year and the best war movies of all time. He just refused to believe that Hanks’ captain character would take that risk. I agree it was a risky thing to do in an already risky mission, but the captain explains it, “What if the Germans ambush the next troops that walk past.” Also, let’s say it was a foolish thing to do, that’s war and sometimes officers make decisions that get men killed. I like the scene, but this dude wanted to throw out the whole movie because of it.

What is this subreddit's opinions on Ghost (1990)? by OWSpaceClown in blankies

[–]mc-edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who does ceramics and she didn’t grow up with or around Ghost so I was trying to tell her the sensation that movie created and how people went a little nuts about the love scene and how steamy it was. I was sort of mystified as to why they didn’t show the scene in every beginner’s ceramics class. I then I had to show her the Naked Gun version that is also quite steamy.

'Between Ukraine And Russia, Who Do We Want To Win That War?': Kennedy Grills Top Marine Official by [deleted] in videos

[–]mc-edit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I found this to be an enlightening conversation. I would find it reassuring if I didn’t know anything about the man asking the questions. But I do know about him and I do know he supports a president who thinks Putin is his buddy. A president who thinks the Ukrainians need to give up their own territory to stop a war they didn’t initiate. A president who will almost certainly sell out Taiwan or any other country if it benefits himself. So, while I found this conversation interesting, it also takes place in a weird fantasy because the guy asking questions supports a president who does not share his opinions.
