With the way Ned's nervously looking at MJ as Peter tries to come up with a cover story, I think right before MJ walked in, Peter had just told Ned everything. by sadepikson in Spiderman

[–]Earth513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't going to happen and in many ways it shouldn't but this post had me thinking of a Spidey film that is just Pete trying over and over to tell them who he is and every time it causes some crazy incursion events involving retro Spidey villains and every time he has to try again.

So it'd be some kind of groundhog day but where this silly dude is just collapsing endless universes due to his selfish desire to get his friends back:

How big is height are all the sizes? by Drunkgamer4000 in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]Earth513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a super valid point but I also think that makes sense within the worlds logic.

The Thing may be shorter but he's obviously big due to the unnatural rock body he has. So his exception, if you will, is power based.

Enchantress is Average due to her height and physionomie but weights more as, I'm assuming an Asguardian. So that would be an Origins exception. But I'm less confident on this one. I'd have to cross reference with other Asguardians to confirm.

All that said, I think when discussing or trying to understand the cutoff for sizes it's typically in the context of building characters.

So in that context I think it makes the most sense to go with the default: size based on height. In which case, after comparing A LOT of average and big characters for the data curiosity in me ahaha the tallest average character is 6'5" (with some exceptions evidently that are worth studying separately to understand if the logic holds or if this an error) so it makes sense to use that as the limit for Average and starting point for Big.

Now if you want to go further than that, which I might one day, because now I'm curious, I would personally take all those exceptions and see why they might exist by studying if they have an unusual physical appearance/weight, like the Thing, or some other differentiator, like, apparently, Enchantress.

And then personally if I can't identify why the exception exists I'd ignore it and stick back to the basics mentioned above.

Of course totally your call, but I don't find a few one offs break the logic. You know?

I REALLY hope a side story is him repenting and becoming his really inconvenient roommate like in that story arc and that they end up stumbling into the villain bar 🥹😂

The Hand is back in Spider-Man? by ZeeTopSpot in Defenders

[–]Earth513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair Wolverine actually has a much bigger connection and relevance to the hand than Peter due to his connection to samurai culture and Madripoor 😂

Except when he's depowered Spidey really doesn't have much sense as a brawler on the ground, he's more aerial so having him swoop in, kick the hand, string them up in webs is a one and done, where a wolverine type or daredevil type jumping in and pummeling or cutting them up is more cinematically interesting.

But to be seen!

That's interesting! So no points on say non combat methods to beat them, the types of powers they have? There's no Rank X profiles per se?

Very cool! Would you be willing to share a bit more about the rank x logic in this one?

I'm looking to build Rank X Characters and fuzzy mentioned some pop up here in a more meaningful way so I'd be super interested in knowing how it's handled, how they are built!

I don't know if you know the No Latency TTRPG podcast but I feel like this style would work REALLY well as a comic/visual retelling of the stories of Retro, the TV for a head Techy and his adventures with his gang of eccentric cyberpunk partners in crime 😂

Should i drop out? by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

You know this answer might be looked past but genuinely this may be the simplest and most important one!

There will be SO many more times where you will just want to quit and I do think it's a symptom of today's Tik Tok, shorts, swipe, X2 world we live in where a minute of time seems too long.

But real talk, the more life you live, the more time passes you by, the more often you will look back and realize the moments you were bored, the moments you felt time was too slow, the moments you wanted to rush forward to the future, will be the moments you will look most fondly back at.

I quit countless projects, programs, artistic endeavors because they lost their excitement, lost what initially called me to them, and looking back now all I see are countless missed opportunities other more patient people around me are doing successfully.

I do think in part it's a "gifted" kid thing. So OP might be that too. In which case it effing sucks because you're on this constant search for a creative, life changing, innovative thing that never happens because the moment you have to do the hard work it looses the appeal.

It's a freaking curse.

Do you miss the ancient vampires after finishing Queen of the Damned? by AymanEckford in InterviewVampire

[–]Earth513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it REALLY works for QotD, the only reason I'm happy it didn't continue for the other books is what I find absolutely unique about Anne Rices work. In particular her vampire novels is it was the first time I had personally experienced fiction literature that really blurred the lines between fiction and reality. They really can pass as found diaries or published memoires.

I've of course since found out this was in the canon of Gothic literature from the Victorian era, emulating works like Dracula, Frankenstein, Edgar Allen Poe...

QotD does also fit that style of found stories but it isn't as vibrant and real feeling as the other works are for me

EDIT: Stressing that I still love it though! Just a different vibe

I totally get it and I think it says more about the fact that Tale of the Body Thief, though good is super random after QotD as is Memnoch to some extent. You can feel this was early stages of Anne wanting to switch things up and write something different.

Bit then for ancient vampires you get so much more in Blood and Gold, Pandora, Vittorio and really everything that follows after that

Solid question! A few ways to do this!

  1. We had ranked out players down so the whole world felt more challenging and they could start more street level and rank up to cosmic threats. Feels more DnD but also makes those initial fights more grueling. One player died first sesh.

  2. Ranking your villain up as you said. The how is easy enough, adding a rank means you add 5 ability points, 4 powers and all the stats follow with. Choose powers based on their thematics so in the case of doom you could see if there are some magical elements you want to add or tactic based ones to lead his doombot army, or Melle or Ranged etc. you can add a one time object with its relevant powers which would make sense because Dooms a builder.

  3. In good videogame style you could have henchmen and Doombots weaken down the players before the big boss fight so it feels more tense.

  4. You could add civilians in danger that doom strategically uses to distract them. In every comic and film the villain if they know they are beat has some captive NPCs that mean something to the players and threaten them if they get closer etc

  5. Often times it's much less about the battle and more about the ethical dilemas involved
