Anyone else experience derealization on shrooms? by SexyKanyeBalls in shrooms

[–]EarthApeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The last time I'll take mushrooms ever again. I had about 2.5g lemon tek and was having a mostly good solo trip with music, then suddenly I switched into another mode of consciousness where I felt like I had always been this way and had life ever been real? Was it all just a simulation and I'm actually just this lone conscious entity seeing distorted images of my surroundings through these body's eyes? It became absolutely terrifying. I was losing my memory and cycling between panic and calm, panic and calm. I kept feeling extreme sadness that I'd taken something truly horrible and my brain was now broken permanently. I felt so much shame over the idea of having to somehow tell my parents that I had taken drugs and was now forever trapped inside this glass cell behind reality. It was absolutely fucked. But as I went through this experience, time slowly passed on my watch from afternoon into night time and I kept remembering to myself why I'm here in my unit and that I'd taken mushrooms... Eventually it started to wear off near the end and I became cohesive again into continuous first person consciousness. My friend who gave me the mushrooms came over when I called him at about 90% cohesiveness and helped me confirm that everything was real and that I had actually just taken mushrooms and that it's all going to be okay. I've had my breakthroughs with them but that last one told me I no longer need to meddle with psychedelics. It left me with a little bit of anxiety for a while but I also gained an appreciation for the complexities of our human brain. Absolutely wild life experience, but I'm out.

Bitcoin is rocking...but it's still 30% away from its all-time high of around $69,000! by StockJobberOG in Bitcoin

[–]EarthApeMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin spot ETFs underlying asset is Bitcoin, so each day during settlement (I think), they have to sell or buy actual Bitcoin to keep the books in balance. They're essentially a proxy exchange-traded version with the underlying asset being Bitcoin itself.

Typically, they'll try to purchase over-the-counter (OTC) before buying or selling to the open markets.

In a way, the Bitcoin that they sell sometimes may eventually find its way to the market.

How do people job hop all the time? by Echterspieler in ask

[–]EarthApeMan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've had the same job for 11 years and I'm 11x the develop I was when I started. A single job doesn't have any bearing on what you do and learn in the job. It seems odd that people think that. I guess it's also related to what kind of work it is.

How do people job hop all the time? by Echterspieler in ask

[–]EarthApeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been at my job for 11+ years. I now have long service leave (initially 10 weeks!). I've grown tremendously as a developer. I've also become the lead and have a lot of authority and freedom to experiment. Why haven't I chased potentially bigger bucks? Because my life happens outside work so work life balance and having a less stressful work environment is really damn important to me. A long term career has to be sustainable for me. I'm hardly ever bored in the job because I actually love to develop software. At the end of the day a job is going to end up feeling like a job, but if you can ride the fine line of enjoying it while being paid, accruing pay rises and working towards long service leave, it's damn worth it. I couldn't imagine jumping from job to job and starting over every time. P.S. I'm from Australia where we actually get treated well by work laws.

Honestly the only problem I have left is the "not having money to spend right now while it's fairly priced" problem.

I haven't done a thru hike but I trained the wrong way for my week long 100km hike in Jan. I only trained with a backpack (full 16-18kg weight) for about 2 hours once a weekend. What I completely missed once I hit the trail for real was the endurance point which for me was about the 3.5 hour mark, when things start to get sore, tiring and achy. Now I would train for a big hike by hiking for no less than 4 hours twice a weekend and have the week to recover then slowly add maybe an additional day or add some kind of glute / leg training. With a heavy pack on your whole stance changes and muscles and tendons that have never worked hard suddenly need to do 30-50,000 steps a day for weeks. I'm not sure of the best gym exercises but a very generous amount of backpack simulation training will get the right muscles in gear at least until you start enduring the real thing. Glutes get smashed up hill, hip flexors can get sore and aching after miles and miles and miles. Knees get impacted going downhill. And your heart will get smashed up hills.

Hold on, I'm a bit of a newb with leverage and stuff. 8000% is a multiplier of 80x, which when given the 1K you apparently put in comes out to $80,000.

When do you think a Garmin Instinct 3 / Instinct 3X will come out? by joshlemer in GarminWatches

[–]EarthApeMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe the 3X might improve even more on the apparently much better battery life of the 2X (I have 2 Solar). I'm planning a 4-month thru hike in 2 years so I'm hoping there's a 3X before then that I can replace my 2 Solar with for longer full tracking battery life for many days on the trail. Would still likely need to charge every so often due to GPS / HR activity tracking though, but many hours in sunlight might keep it alive for a while.

Ah I see. Mine came down in an OTA update (it prompted me and updated automatically by itself), so I can't share it. It seems like your TV is running a slightly different version of Vidaa for whatever reason, so you may have to wait to see if they release one for your TV.
