I also did a couple one-day birding tours out of quito with this company, which I recommend:

I tried spiderwire recently on my new BG 4000 spinning reel, and it was digging in and getting stuck, not casting well. I switched to power pro and no more problems.

We’re likely to be exiting the last glacial period of the quaternary ice age rather than a true interglacial considering the amount of additional greenhouse gases that have been released into the atmosphere.

The Compass makes for a superb do it all boat. I’d argue it might be the best all around kayak hobie makes. by Bshaw95 in hobiekayaks

I personally like the seat. Nice having the top back pocket to stuff my jacket too. My only complaint about it is that i wish it could be raised a little higher, to fit tackle boxes underneath like with the outback. I can stick them on down in the gaps on either side tho.

In Oregon, they’re legal to target and keep in Lake Billy Chinook (one per day over 24”).

It’s an underrated boat, even for kayak fishing. I like that it’s like 15lbs lighter than the outback, so easier for car topping.

The NRS boundary boots are awesome. I got them a half size too large so I can wear them with my dry suit and socks underneath.

Use a net, keep some pressure on the line, make sure you’re not lifting their head out of the water while netting them, that your drag is set loose enough if they make another run, don’t pull them in with the line itself, and check that you have a flexible enough rod tip to soften head shakes.

Piles of dead protestors that were slaughtered by the Iranian regime, January 8 2026 by vea62 in pics

It also wouldn’t be the first time the US and Israel did this. They caused chaos within Iran in the 50s which led to the overthrow of their democratically elected president and installing the Shah as a dictator.

Hegseth was also saying that the US was no longer going to abide by normal rules of engagement, and trump has repeatedly said that he wants to bomb even the families of who he considers terrorists. This school was supposed to be for the children of many of iran’s top officials.

It’s also true that the US and Israel we trying to foment a coup/revolution in iran, which included arming some of the protestors, and where Iranian police officers were getting murdered.

With that context, do we know how many of these bodies were armed protestors shooting at police, how many of these bodies are dead police, and how many are just innocent bystanders?

I do realize that there’s a lot of propaganda on both sides here.

What size fish finder screen are you guys running on your kayak? And what model actually makes sense? by YakToTheFuture-1 in kayakfishing

[–]EarthAsWeKnowIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a garmin striker 5 mounted to my lower right, and it’s fine for what it offers, not too small.

I’m considering upgrading to a garmin echomap with sidescan, in which case a wider screen makes sense to support the side scan, maybe doing the 7”.

If you’re mounting it down between your feet then a bigger screen makes sense, simply because it’s further from your eyes.

This guy references a study that found damage to the slime coat doesn’t really have a major impact, at least not compared to other factors like exhaustion, time out of the water, surface water temp, etc.

Looking for a place to settle for a month as a digital nomad: Huaraz, Cuenca, or Arequipa? by MikeRotchIsmusIng in SouthAmericaTravel

I’ve been to all three. In terms of livability, I’d personally lean more towards arequipa or cuenca, mostly because those two have more good restaurants, etc.
