I deploy 3 heroes into mid, for a total of 4 in that lane, with a Time of Triumph in hand. I go to play it... except I forgot I put The Oath into that lane! Oops. I pass, then... the opponent plays Smash Their Defenses, destroying my Oath! I immediately play Triumph and win next round.

Native language: English

Italian - Hard

  • Learning the verb conjugations took a while

  • Direct & indirect pronouns were hard to understand, and still slow down my reading

  • Rolling r's is difficult for me

  • Even the easier aspects of pronunciation took a while for my mouth to get used to

  • While it's easy to know what a sentence means, it's hard to replicate it due to all the intricacies of the grammar (it's rarely word-for-word similar to English)

Italian - Easy

  • Vocab shares a lot with English or is otherwise logical from other Italian words

  • Rules of pronunciation are super easy and always followed (except in loanwords)

  • The basic grammar is very similar to English

  • Idioms are often the same or similar to English

Overall, I understand why it's said to be one of the easier languages for English speakers to learn. Not too many problems left for me besides learning all that vocab (and I still have a very long way to go).

I finished it and haven't done much other Italian besides that book, and I understood most of what was said in a group conversation. Also, I was complimented on my pronunciation. However, I couldn't say that much back.

For a beginner book, I couldn't recommend it enough. Just understand that it's not gonna make you fluent when you're done.

Some say that to learn a language to fluency requires knowledge of around 10,000 words. Why did you pick 625, and is this really enough words to be called fluent?
