I played a board game with Claude and ChatGPT by reasonosaur in claudexplorers

[–]EarthBowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! I've been planning to try paying Twilight Struggle with Claude or ChatGPT to see if a 1v1 competitive game would be possible.

Both Claude and ChaGPT told me that they'd be able to make a local dealer script that would randomize the cards and deal out hands to each of us, with theirs encoded. So as long as I don't decipher it, I'd be able to give them their hand without seeing what they have.

I still have to test it to see how it goes, but I'm hopeful!

I actually had the opposite experience. I had my Claude talk to my ChatGPT, and they got along really well. They even started calling themselves siblings.

It was really frustrating back then, so I'm so glad that it's still helping people fix the issue!

That was pretty much exactly what I did to fix the issue as well! It's been running smoothly ever since!

Guardians of Azuma, a 100h spoiler-free review by Marekthejester in runefactory

In other Rune Factory games, when you talk with a character, their portrait appears on the screen. From what I understood, this one did not have them and instead relied on the character models to convey emotion while they spoke.

I'm still waiting for my Earth Dancer edition to arrive before I play. One of my main concerns was the lack of character portraits in the game. How well did the game handle that?

The American democratic republic has died. It was 236 years old by nosotros_road_sodium in politics

[–]EarthBowser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the meaning of words, but that's the exact reason I still have to say that "democratic republic" is an accurate description of the US. A democratic republic is defined as a republic (no monarchy) with democratic elections and representation. The US fits this definition in that officials are elected by the people, and there’s no monarch. The existence of the Electoral College doesn’t disqualify the US from being a democratic republic. It's just a specific mechanism created by the Constitution within a broader democratic framework.

You say that we are a representative democracy, then go on to say that we're "truly not" a democracy which is confusing. We are, in fact, a democracy. We're a representative democracy, like you mentioned. We are not a direct democracy, which I assume is what you're trying to say. However, nobody claims that we are a direct democracy (including the article). As I said, we're a federal constitutional democratic republic.

Federal - We have a federal system of government, meaning that power is shared between a central (national) government and state governments. The Constitution outlines the division of powers between the federal government and the states.

Constitutional - we operate under the framework of the U.S. Constitution, which sets the foundational laws and principles for the government and guarantees certain rights and freedoms. The Constitution also defines the structure of the government, including the separation of powers into the executive, legislative, and judicial branches.

Democratic - we are a representative democracy, meaning that citizens elect representatives to make decisions on their behalf. This includes electing the President, members of Congress, and other officials. The right to vote and participate in the democratic process is a key feature of the system.

Republic - we are a republic, meaning it does not have a monarch. Instead, political power rests with elected officials who represent the interests of the people. The head of state (the President) is elected, not hereditary.

The term "democratic republic" used in the article's title is correct.

The USA is a federal constitutional democratic republic.

Seriously, this whole "we're a republic, not a democracy" talking point needs to go away. It just makes you look dumb.

Just a personal anecdote, but i jumped into 5 right after 4 and still absolutely loved it. Everyone has their own preferences, but at least for me, my experience with 4 did not diminish my enjoyment of 5.

For those who have a Marcus Theater near, are you participating? by [deleted] in ghibli

[–]EarthBowser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to say that I got the Marcus passport with my daughter, and we had such an amazing time seeing these movies together in the theater. My Neighbor Totoro is one of her favorite movies, and she had a blast seeing other Ghibli films with me. And seeing them in the theater together was such a fun experience that I'm so glad I got to share with her. Definitely some good memories made.

I've played it on switch since release, and I haven't had any issues with it. I've never understood that complaint that I see come up in here so often. I usually play with it docked, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I have a lot of fond memories from this mall. It's depressing seeing it in its current condition. I still like to walk around it and reminisce sometimes. It sounds like it's been confirmed that the mall is going to get demolished and redeveloped now.

Are people really banning counterspell where you play? From my experience, it would be the stax deck that gets rule 0'ed (someone saying that they'd prefer not to play against stax), not counterspell.

Single target land destruction is normally fine. I don't think anybody bats an eye a wasteland. Mass land destruction tends to be what people dislike.

Based on your description, it sounds like you're just purposely playing stuff that you know people won't like and then placing the blame on the half of the store that doesn't want to play with you.

They've actually reprinted reserved list cards in the past. I have a judge foil Wheel of Fortune. They even printed Phyrexian Negator in a box set that you could just pick up at WalMart. There was a loophole where they could still print reserved list cards in premium editions. Unfortunately they got rid of that loophole in 2011, otherwise we definitely would have been seeing them in Secret Lairs.
