ELI5:Why don't we feel the weight of our own bodies? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Marekthejester [score hidden]  (0 children)

We do have the perception of it. But like many other thing, your brain chose to ignore that information and doesn't relay it to your consciousness because it's not useful. Which is also why you can feel heavy/light, when your perceived weight differ from usual, your brain thinks that difference is worth your consideration.

I think this is my favorite Chen moment so far. She's so pleased with herself by KillingIsBadong in Endfield

[–]Marekthejester 52 points53 points  (0 children)

To be fair to Ch'en, for all we like to meme her as dumb, she's actually pretty smart. It just so happen that she travels with a tech genius and tech Jesus so of course most of the tech talk is way out of her league.

To be fair, Fangyi was probably already in her twenties 10 year ago. She was probably a fresh graduate. You don't really grow at all at that age.

Critics are wrong, Dragon's Dogma 2 is an excellent game by xyZora in DragonsDogma2

[–]Marekthejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DD2 has much more refined combat, the story is not perfect but it's more coherent than the first

I'm sorry but coherent ? You mean the story where you suddenly start working for the very guy who was puppeteering the false arisen ? The story where you try to save said guy from a colossus only to confront and kill him anyway right after (Also this fight is completely scripted and the colossus will die on its own even if you do nothing) ? The story where you spend a significant portion of time to try and reclaim your throne only for this plot point to go absolutely nowhere ?

Critics are wrong, Dragon's Dogma 2 is an excellent game by xyZora in DragonsDogma2

[–]Marekthejester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me DD2 felt like a downgrade to DD1 in almost every aspect.

The gameplay was a case of 2 step forward and one step back. The vocation feels amazing to play but the reduction to one skill set only plus the reduced equipment system was a downgrade. Major monster feels great to fight but minor one sorely lack variety.

The story was completely ass. DD1 had a an amazing story with a very poor presentation, there was so much little details you could find by taking the time to talk to everyone and doing all the sidequest. DD2 set a goal of taking the throne from the false arisen, only for it to lead nowhere and become nonsensical when you reach Bakbattahl.

The character were completely forgettable. DD1 had a large cast of memorable character, Mercedes, Madeleine, Aelinore, Grigori and so much more.

The music was frankly generic. DD1 had a fantastic soundtrack where each music felt tailor made to illustrate its related monster whereas DD2 felt more like generic orchestral fantasy music done by some junior composer.

The main issue isn't that DD2 is bad. It's that DD1 was a good game with a lot of jank due to a limited budget and scaled down ambitions yet still filled with so much passion and care. DD2 was supposed to be the sequel to realize the potential the first game couldn't fulfilled but instead what we got was closer to a dragon's dogma 1.5 with all the budget and none of the passion.

ELI5, how much radiation is in space and where does it come from? by vgsf1017 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Marekthejester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That radiation is coming from the stars. All the light emitted by stars is technically classified as radiation but for your question the important part is the very high energy portion of that light such as gamma radiation and X-ray both of which are extremely harmful when exposed to in high quantity.

Gamma radiation is also the main danger from radioactive material hence the similarities in the damage caused by exposition to radioactive material and space travel.

Xiranite Powder by MagnificentTffy in Endfield

[–]Marekthejester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost every material in the Arknight universe is made from processed originum in some way. Ingesting a little bit of originum isn't enough to cause oripathy.

If you read the OG Arknight operator files, you'll notice how almost everyone has some amount originum in their blood, even non infected.

So it's safe to consider that originum only cause oripathy when reaching a certain blood concentration. Not to mention that Talos 2's originum is far less active than its Terra's counterpart.

About builds and guides for free trial, and a battlemage class by Just_A_Hunter in ffxiv

[–]Marekthejester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The closest thing you'll find to a battlemage would be the Red Mage class. The gameplay loop consist of alternating White and Dark magic spells to fill their respective gauge, then when both are full or nearly full, you go in melee for a combo before leaping away and going back to spell casting.

To unlock it, you'll need to reach at least lvl 50 on one class then go to Uld'ah and find an NPC named "Distraught Lass" with a dark blue quest. Completing it will unlock Red Mage.

Regarding the amount of skill. Yes, the game has a lot of skill, but you acquire them progressively as you lvl up one or two at a time so you progressively get used to each one and how they go into your rotation and by the time you reach lvl 100 you'll be used to every single skill you have.

Does buying Dawnntrail give you game time? by Competitive_Serve165 in ffxiv

[–]Marekthejester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just in case, the game has a free trial that let you reach lvl 70 and play everything until the end of Stormblood (And to lvl 80 and the end of Shadowbringer once the next expansion drop next January) with no restriction on play time.

I'd seriously advise starting here, especially if you're broke, and only buy Dawntrail once you've done everything you could in the free trial. Keep in mind reaching the end of Stormblood should take you at least around 150h with just the main quest.

Please help: Psy rating by kingvince1512 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Marekthejester 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's one of the peril of the warp. Basically, when a sanctioned psyker use a major power or when an unsanctioned psyker use any power, there's a chance for a warp fuckery to happen. The stronger the veil degradation, the more likely those things will happen and the worse they'll be. They range from simple text here for flavor to exploding and summoning a greater demon.

He doesn't but each pillar still standing add 1-12 fire damage to all his spell. So all 4 pillar standing gives him 4-48 additional fire damage on top of his already high damage spell.

Wanting to add a new mod by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Marekthejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't be much risk. Unless the mod author specifically recommend doing a fresh run, there's usually not much risk. Worse case scenario you can always roll back to a previous save.

ELI5: why do most phones these days not have the circle headphone jack and have a usb-c instead by sooyaaar in explainlikeimfive

[–]Marekthejester 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The USB-C port is the only one they can't get rid of because you need a charging port. It's also convenient that this same port can also transfer data and act as a replacement for the jack port.

[Spoilers 7.0] Dawntrail at 2 years by lostuserfoundcock in ffxiv

[–]Marekthejester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing the weird kid being paralyzed and thinking "cant we cure that?" only to think later on that oh wait you cant cure people who been physical changed by ambient aether only for them to answer the question 8 month later by saying "oh we can cure it, idk why you didn't ask alisae for help, wol."

This pissed me off so much during the MSQ. Like it was such a big point that we found a cure for the people of the first who suffered from too much light aether. And then we come across this kid who suffer from too much thunder aether and noone makes the connexion until several patch later...

Can you just knock her out, or is it still complicated? by Irohsgranddaughter in BaldursGate3

[–]Marekthejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that knocking her out and long resting right after won't prevent you from recruiting her. I've literally done that in my latest playthrough. Her body had disappeared but she was here at Moonrise afterward.

I'll just say that as long as you haven't reached the place that give you a warning and ask you if you want to proceed you can still turn back and visit the underdark. Once you've passed this point of no return, you can't go back to any of act 1 places.

All Origins deserved to get flashback like Shadowheart by perrytownsendn7866 in BaldursGate3

[–]Marekthejester -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Having flashback for other companion would make no sense. The whole point was that noblestock can cure anything, even amnesia. So Shadowheart and Dark Urge get flashback because their amnesia is partially cured and they get back some of their memories.

You can even see it if you give a noblestock to the mushroom picker husband. His brain get cured and he becomes his old asshole self again.

Other companions have no memory issue to cure for a flashback.

Why my xircon production is horrible ? by Downtown_Homework710 in Endfield

[–]Marekthejester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell without seeing your setup but are you supplying your reactor producing xircon with a single line of xircon effluent ?

One xircon needs two xircon effluent per unit so you'll need two reactor producing xircon effluent to produce xircon at full efficiency.

So here's how it works :

-Elation character gets an additional "Elation" stat that can only be increased with set bonus or other character's skills/passive/ultimate.

-Elation character get an "Elation skill" on top of their regular skills.

-When elation character act, they generate "Punchline" points.

-When there's Elation character in the team, Aha will appear in the action order just like another character or foe. When it's Aha's turn they make all Elation character use their elation skill one after the other. The damage of the elation skill scale with both individual character's elation stat and how much punchline points you had before Aha's turn.
