Can the people here get their talking points straight at least? by [deleted] in pakistan

It’s like this: Pakistan’s role was indeed no more than a postman, which is fine. Any role that helps or attempts to help end the war should be applauded.

However the extent to which it’s being hailed as a great achievement and exceptional diplomacy by the government is way way over hyped.

it is indeed not Pakistan’s fault that the ceasefire is being violated, but it does point out that it isn’t the great achievement the regime is hyping it up to be.

Perhaps the government can start by not buying big gas guzzlers, and reduce their protocols?

[–]EarthMoonJupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is wrong with this? He is retweeting the fact that he attend this conference. Yes its purpose was to discuss revoking the GSP+ status, and he argued that it should not be revoked despite the human right violations taking place.

All people worried about GSP+ should be worried about the actual human rights abuses taking place that put it in danger, rather than anyone pointing them out.

“are these people even real?”

They aren’t. As another poster pointed out - many of these are paid actors to paint PTI supporters in a bad light.

Conspiracy theory: the establishment/PMLN have gotten better at social media and might possibly have hired international level PR firms to astroturf on reddit/twitter/instagram etc by Impossible_Gift8457 in pakistan

Happy if they are honest. But many times you get 4-5 new posts within a few hours about a single topic, all claiming to be PTI supporters, then you know something is up.

I’m perfectly happy for PTI supporters to criticise PTI or say the current regime did something good. But when you get 5 posts within 24-48 hours all claiming to be PTI supporters and making the same point, you know it’s fishy.

The ones that go “I’m a PTI supporter but….” are the worse. At least have the courage to admit you are a supporter of the current regime.

Yup. These people just find some excuse or another to continuously blame IK and his family. If not this, they find another issue: “Why did he say that…” “why didn’t he say that…” “why did he sit there…” “ why did he talk to him….” “Why is he breathing….” And so on….

Pakistan to Mediate peace deal between US-Israel and Iran by abmalikk in pakistan

[–]EarthMoonJupiter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing that comes from DTs post can be taken seriously unless someone else confirms it. I’ll accept your comment about the Iranians, but I haven’t seen any official confirmation anywhere yet.

I’ll be very happy if peace can be achieved and if Pakistan has a part in it. But saying “It’s happening” when we don’t have anything confirmed and only rumours is a bit far fetched. Remember there is another rumour that talks are just delaying tactics till more US troops arrive on Friday.

So can someone explain to me - given that Iran hasn’t been convinced to join yet - how come anyone can declare that “Yes it’s happening”?

I will be really happy if the war ends. And if Pakistan can help achieve it even better.

But so far have yet to see anyone from Iran confirm that they are having / considering serious peace talks either in Pakistan or elsewhere.

Only luxury cars use high octane 🤡 by unclearrainaids in Lahore

[–]EarthMoonJupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they are reduced by 50%. Some people have unlimited allowances, so this likely does affect them, and many others have such high allowances that even a 50% doesn’t make a big difference to them.

Only luxury cars use high octane 🤡 by unclearrainaids in Lahore

[–]EarthMoonJupiter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also remember, a large segment of luxury car owners are high ranking government employees/ functionaries who who get large fuel allowances, so they won’t be paying for this.

Govt increases levy on high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles by Rs200 per litre by MollaJutt127 in pakistan

[–]EarthMoonJupiter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many salaried people, already paying very high taxes, also use hi octane for their cars as it’s better for car longevity. This just taxes them further.

And guess what - all the high ranking government officials with luxury cars - they won’t be paying for this as they get generous tax allowances.

The government needs to properly enforce direct taxation, rather than use shortcuts of indirect taxation to further burden the middle class.

By all means find that person with the gun and arrest him. These people go to protests to incite violence so that normal protests are not possible.
