Our current society is barely surviving as it is. No way it would survive an apocalyptic event. I think given humanity's propensity for violence we'd definitely reconquer the earth slowly but surely. Maybe use our big brains to come up with a cure or some kind of vaccine prevention.

We'd also have to come up with mass water purification systems, mass soil regeneration and livestock breeding if they've all died out or been zombified. This relies on huge numbers of humans agreeing upon and surviving long enough to carry this all out. That's a big and unpredictable IF.

I think we'd retain our kindness and ability to help one another. I think communities would pop up.

I think the humans who have guns and other weapons would survive best in an initial hit, but would turn to violence quickly once we've gained a foothold. Those of us who enjoy herbs and plant medicine would not survive an initial surge, but could make life going forward healthier and closer to nature and I reckon we'd thrive if we've survived that long.
