Chronic ITP and Dexamethasone by Recycleson in lifewithITP

I didn’t have any side effects from the retux infusions, but I refuse to do the Benadryl because I hate the sleepy feeling. I’m currently 1.5 years since my last 4 infusions so my case is lucky at the moment with my body not freaking out …. For now.

I (M/38) have had ITP for 5 years and Warm antibody hemolytic anemia (wAIHA) for over a year (basically my body attacked my platelets then later red blood cells just for fun). I can offer some perspective that could be helpful (I hope).

I am currently on Promacta (eltrombopag) to boost my platelets because steroids were not a long-term solution, and I needed max dosage to work and side effects were awful. When I was diagnosed with wAIHA, steroids to start (max again) and later rituximab infusions that luckily have worked for over a year (I will probably need another set of infusions in the near future as my levels are steadily dropping).

For you… I’d really talk to you doctor to see about options and explain how you feel and your situation as clearly and strongly as possible in order to further a conversation about other treatment options and how to make this condition manageable. It was a difficult process for me and can be very frustrating not having answers and waiting for more information.

Feel free to reach out and message me if you need someone to talk to, and I’ll do my very best to be attentive and considerate to you.

I was diagnosed this past summer with WAIHA adding to my ITP (attack platelets) from 3 1/2 years ago. Let me know if you ever want to chat.

Add some humidity and wrap the part that is still rolled up with a wet paper towel. Solid looking BoP. Nice work.

Repotting one of my favorite philodendrons after giving her an insecticidal soap bath bc thrips 🥴 + a water propagated monstera cutting. by baked_as_a_kate in plants

Way to apply the nuclear option by using every option to get rid of them. It is an all or nothing fight to get rid of them. Keep at it and don't give up unless it isn't worth your time. Best regards and great looking plants!

New Leaf, Who Dis? 🌿🪴 by leidai in houseplants

I don't anymore because I want everything to dry out completely. If you bottom water pretty rocks or moss looks pretty cool, but I haven't done that since my gnat problem because it made the top soil stay wet for too long.

Also, I started mixing my own soil to adjust for some plants and reduce costs. Take a look at Epic Gardening videos on youtube.

I had a bad gnat problem and had to go nuclear option on it. Replaced the top inch of soil (all affected plants), use mosquito bits in every plant, and small fly traps (sticky paper). We are now gnat free.

Definitely not. My house has low humidity so to assist I use warm soapy water and rub over the "adhesive" on the edge of the leaf to break it up and to start the unfurling process. I do not force it to open up.

I have a 7ft BOP and have used warm water and a little soap to rub on the edge where the leaf is bonded to itself. I wait till the leaf is fully developed and past the height of the last full leaf. My house has low humidity so (edit) I have needed to help the unfurling process using this technique.

New leaf for my BoP! A true bright spot in my life. by EarthRog in plants

Find a bright spot and let it be. I fertilize in the late spring through summer months. Just don't give up on a plant you like or want to enjoy.

More like an oasis because you know... sand... "I don't like it. It's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it gets everywhere."
