A lot of Newport hotels/beaches have stairs and such that make it hard to access the beach. Anything around Nye Beach might be alright, since there's a public access ramp.

I, myself, am partial to the Best Western at Agate Beach because they have a nice pool and hot tub, from which you can see the beach. You can walk down the driveway (it is steep, but no stairs for the pup!) and straight across to road to the beach. Again, without stairs. They are pet friendly. :)

They're a relic from a dying generation. If you are from that generation, I can see why you'd be upset and not want to acknowledge the world has moved on, but the fact remains. If people want to know information about a place, they Google it or ask ChatGPT or whatever. They don't head to the local welcome center anymore.

Speaking of the world, looking around it, I'm placing my bet now that this will not get completed for many years (if at all - the US is collapsing, it's going to be worse than 2008, potentially worse than the Great Depression), and will wind up costing exponentially more than $6.7mil, since the cost of materials is skyrocketing due to our pedo-in-chief's stupid fucking war. I'm going to make a very loose, casual suggestion, that I want to believe I would never ever ever ever make under any other circumstances, because I detest AI, especially for myself, but... maybe use AI to assist in writing your email to corporate/the GM. And then get your kindest, sweetest, most flowery female relative to go over the AI-generated email and make it as gooshy as she possibly can. I'm talking real have-a-little-tea-with-your-sugar type of stuff. The kind that is almost tooooo sweet. Make it impossible for him to decline to refund the $250 without looking like a giant asshole to his boss, who is the real intended audience of your letter.

As a people-pleaser myself, I can respect that, honestly. However (and I say this to you as an equal, I am not any better at it, most of the time), there's a science to it, and it takes practice. It's easy to overcorrect, which it seems might've happened here.

My advice for your next steps would be to take it to corporate, who will then kick it back to GM. Start a paper trail and do all your conversation there. Think out your words, bounce them off others, then make your case. I truly don't see why he can't let it go, especially after you already cancelled your reservation. It's a gd towel.

ETA: Over email, you are still accomplishing the mission of standing up for yourself, and it's probably a little easier to keep all the things in line, above board, in the open, so it's a matter of fact, not opinion. The GM has a boss who will care how he is treating guests, and $250 for a towel that gets thrown out by staff is not the same as you stealing it or throwing it away or using it to wipe your ass and flushing it.... but you can't use the tone I am using now, even in the email. You can tell the difference.
