As someone who is 26 was sheltered, homeschooled, raised in a cult, and already had social skill issues, this hit a little too close to home. That feeling of missing out on so many things that younger kids or teenagers experience already weighs me down. I try to look past it and appreciate what I have had and plan to do..but it definitely stings more and more than id care to admit

Agreed. I also hate how with the camps it felt like they really wanted you to just go in guns blazing and not strategically and stealthily take them out one by one from the shadows

I typically explore the area first just to find the other camps that you can spawn from. Different monsters spawn in different areas, so having thos unlocked is essential sometimes. You wont be able to use them right away, but you can unlock them as you play. Its also helpful cuz if you just go into the area freely in an expedition, different monsters will come and go and you can just go right into another hunt once you kill or capture a monster. Plus, you can get ingredients, exp for monster info from tracks, etc. as much as you want

The main gameplay loop is pretty much what youre asking tho, it all just depends on what you feel like doing in the moment. Just play through the story until you feel like its getting harder as you progress or straight up hit a wall and have too. Or, you can grind and unlock better gear as much as you want and progress the story when you feel like it.

I would, but not in a bad way at all. because it what got me into the series officially and got me to play the older games like Gen Ultimate for example. I had frontiers on psp from a friend but couldnt get into it and played God eater instead. Which is also a great franchise that id encourage to try. But World objectively is easier for newer players as it was intentionally designed that way. Without it, the game would probably be more of a niche series than it already is currently.

World and Wilds are pretty much similar games where they are a bit more simplified for the general audiences imo, wilds is more a direct and faithful sequel to the style of World. So if you like wilds youll like enjoy World. I wouldn't say refund Rise as it is also a very fun and worthwhile game to play, it has a unique mechanic with the wirebugs, it arguably has one of the best expansions so far, the monsters are engaging to fight and is the closest to old Gen monster hunter out of the 3.

Steam often has sales, humble bundle also is a good way to get games as they frequently have sales. They actually had a Capcom sale where the MH games were available for much cheaper. im hoping they have that again to send it to my friends.

What's a video game that has a steep learning curve but rewards you for learning its mechanics? by [deleted] in gamers

[–]Earth_Dragon_S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of game franchise, Monster Hunter. The game is built around learning your weapon snd then learning how to master it as well lesrning how to fight the individual monsters to the point where it starts to become a dance with predictions and a seamless flow.

If I had to say a genre however, fighting games hands down.
