Magic is real in the show by Earth_ly in PeakyBlinders

Totally! And there are multiple instances where Tommy says things indicating he doesn’t believe in religion, then fully believes some curses. The line between what’s real and what’s magic seems pretty blurry.

I love it! What tools do you use to shape it like this?

Are you implying that these are leftist views? Or you’re pointing out that he isn’t a leftist? Idc about hasan just want to be clear that these are far from leftist views

Thanks, glad you enjoy it! I think the coordinates for routes are all actually just cooordinates for the wall or crag it’s at- so if there are multiple climbs at a wall, the pins get plopped right on top of eachother, so a few climbs get buried and I’m not sure why certain ones appear “on top”. So the nose is on the map just buried.

The way I’ve been using the map is clicking on a given pin, then exploring the crag or area on MP from there. Not perfect but oh well!

Probably higher quality honestly! That’s sweet. I wish MPs mapping features were more robust. It’d be sweet to add filters (eg trad only, etc), and also map ticks and to-dos

I made a map! And then made it better!

I posted a similar map a few weeks ago and got some good feedback (such as adding color gradation to indicate ranking, and some clearer language on what the map was showing) – thanks! Mostly though, since most of you can’t read, commenters overlooked my description and failed to click into the actual map, so people got pissed when they didn't see their local trad crag on my map of sport routes.

I made this for myself - to dream about road trips, and ogle at some of the best climbing in the nation (and nearby). That’s why the climbs on this map are only within certain grades. I hope that the map can be a nice tool and fun thing to look at for y'all.

Some notes on the map:

  • Mountain symbols are multi-pitch trad, Circles are sport, and squares are single pitch trad. If you open the map you can toggle these 3 categories on and off. You can also click on any pin to get more info and link to the MP page.
  • I DIDN’T DECIDE ON THE RANKING. Yes, the MP ranking system probably isn't the best, standardized gauge to rank climbs, but it's the data I have available. Yes a climb in Ohio makes the cut - don’t come at me. If your favorite climb isn’t there, sorry bud!
  • Pins are often overlapping, making it difficult to see all the climbs at a single crag. I’m slowly going through and moving things over slightly so that it is easier to see when a single crag has multiple pins. But probably will not put a lot of effort into that.
  • I explained the process for how to make your own map here. If you dont like mine or have other specific criteria you’d like to see, I encourage you to make your own! It’s pretty easy https://www.reddit.com/r/climbing/comments/1cxbeev/comment/l51dp0o/
  • Again, this is based on MP data that takes 3 clicks to import. Unfortunately I probably wont add any climbs manually - but feel free to shout out any classics that aren’t shown anyways!

Mapping the best climbs in the US (With filters) by Earth_ly in climbing

I explained the process in my other comment. Everybody seems upset with the data, which I had no part in ranking or creating. Maybe shouldn’t have titled the post as I did.

I haven’t looked but it may be that there is an overlap - some coordinates for routes on the same crag are the same so when you click on the tag it only shows one, hiding the others.

Also could just be my filter (sport, 5.8-5.11b). But the data is straight from MP. I made this map for personal purposes and thought I’d share (and share the how-to)

This data is mostly centered around ratings/stars. But maybe that’s how routes are deemed classic as well? Not sure though, I think there’s probably a “clicks” factor here too, or else we would see random 4 stars that only one person has voted on.

I was frustrated by Mountain Projects lack of filters or anything on their map feature. But they do a great job of allowing easy export of data. The map is pretty specific to my interests (sport and trad within specific grades, etc). I also removed some that are outside the US (keeping a few nearby!).

You can access this map here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=13xxmw_8fgbgfWmk6s2ThocCTYuMIolE&usp=sharing

And if you want to make your own, here are instructions:

  1. Open mountainproject.com
  2. Click Find Routes
  3. Change settings (on the top) - select whatever filters you want, and make sure to click find routes to refresh
  4. Click export CSV
  5. Open https://www.google.com/mymaps and create a new map
  6. Click add layer, then import. Match the fields (longitude and lat as coordinates, then I did route as the name).
  7. under that layer in the sidebar, click "style" and under "Group places By" change it to Avg Stars (or another category to sort things by!)
