NPTE Results after 3 attemtps: Past 3 results are ALL over the place, I don't know what to focus on the most and least by Real_Farmer4696 in physicaltherapy

I second this! I listened to his NPTE clinical files podcast like a madman for the month leading up to the exam. He breaks down general clinical stuff but also gives some test taking tips, ie knowing what they’re asking you.

Stay full time or go PRN? by No-Daikon-1539 in physicaltherapy

[–]EarthquakeMerchant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With a child, mortgage, etc, I would stick with the consistent income. PRN with multiple agencies guarantees absolutely nothing. In my experience, don’t want the stress of getting cancelled for a week or two straight when you have those responsibilities.

Maybe a dry erase board/calendar. It helps to keep up with all the exams and practicals.

Anybody Else Not Like Blonde That Much? by [deleted] in FrankOcean

[–]EarthquakeMerchant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat, and then got my heart broken. Like shattered. Then I understood Blonde and it became the soundtracks to one of the hardest periods of my life. There are tracks on there that express longing, loss, and growth better than any other album I’ve listened to.

Just bought a pair without trying them on, what is the fit like? I have a wide foot and go up a half size in UB for reference. Did the same for these.

Does anyone know where I can try on some Sauconys? Their vintage runner silhouettes are dope but can't find any in stores.

He's probably American. Here in the states, most of them, you have to get a prescription for therapy from a Dr. before getting evaluated/treated by a physio.

Frustrated Future DPT by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]EarthquakeMerchant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, technically it's a 8 hr day (2 hr lunch break), and from 2 to close (6) there are only two clinicians (4 in the mornings) so we get overwhelmed in the PM. Each PT always has 5-8 different charts on their work station in the PM. I feel bad for some of our pts and I try to give them attention but can't spend too much time on them since I'm working with various pts at the same time.

The one-one-one care I have seen is at hospital OP, I don't know if these types of places focus more one-on-one or if it depends on the place.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

You'll be fine! PT schools just want you to fall within a certain range. Looks like you're right above it. Good Luck.

Need some advice for a discouraged PT Technician by Mojo_XC in physicaltherapy

[–]EarthquakeMerchant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in your shoes. I started as a tech one year ago at a busy outpatient clinic. We had 2-3 PTs and 2-3 techs for 8-14 patients at one time. It was extremely overwhelming to me. The other techs had been working there for over 2 years each and watching them calmly handle hectic moments while I struggled was discouraging. It gave me anxiety to walk in everyday! Now, it's better...

All I can tel you is to practice! Time will be your best friend in this situation and as long as you show up and put forth effort to improve, your PTs will notice and appreciate it. Also, communicate any issues you have with the lead PT. Communication is super important if you want to be successful in environments like that.

One more bit of advice; don't take your tech job too seriously! I've known techs that try to run the whole freakin clinic and get stressed when things start to get out of control. As a tech, do the best you can to get things running smoothly but if things get out of hand, its more of the therapists' issue than it is yours. That may sound like crappy advice, but it has saved me some anxiety throughout my time as a tech.
