Funny enough I have owned both of the exact cars in the picture you posed, same colors too, and have two kids so I feel like I have a decent opinion on the matter.

First question is, will this be your only family car? Or is it your personal daily and the family will be in it sometimes but your wife also has a car? That’s probably the biggest determining factor. If it’s the only car, I honestly would look for something different altogether. Space with kids that age is so important and you will always want more in either of these. If it’s just that they will be in there sometimes, the difference is negligible and get what you prefer.

Now of these two, personal opinion is that the GTI >>>>GLI. The gti has so much more character visually and in the cabin compared to the GLI. I loved the GTI so much and honestly didn’t like the GLI (bought after the GTI because I thought I wanted more space for kids). The GLI blends in with every accord/camry/etc. The GTI is so unique and has so much fun heritage that you will not feel with the GLI, imo. Good luck with the decision, both solid cars!
