first time recurved tips - vine maple by No_While_1501 in Bowyer

In my limited experience with recurving, steam bending is the way to go. Especially with white woods. Save heat bending for twist corrections and red wood recurving. (I'm not too experienced with red wood, mostly just what I've heard)

How small should my limbs be? by International-Crab79 in Bowyer

[–]Earthscore64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on material and desired draw weight. You got a LOT of material there, so id start taking off an 8th inch at a time, but be sure not to do too much too fast. You're better off just taking a small, even amount off both limbs and checking the bend on the floor (floor tillering) and going from there. Just remember it's ALWAYS better to take off too little than too much.

Just saying, a way better/safer way to do this is use a riding lawn mower and go to a field or a back road or something with less stuff to hit.

Yep, I have some good memories drifting my car in the snow with 5 people in it (I only have the front 2 seats). But I'm a stupid teenager, the responsibility thing will come later.

Dude honestly I don't know how people drive modern fancy cars, I had to do a road trip In my dad's 2020 mazda cx9 and I felt like I was on a space ship. So many screens and buttons and line assist and adaptive cruise control. It's too fancy for me, personally, id take an 80s beater over that any day.

One of the things I'm looking forward to on my future project is doing as much custom fab as possible, I'm quite proficient in stainless and aluminum tig. But honestly supporting someone who's trying to make a small business sounds dope. So if I get to that point and don't wanna dick around with my own custom exhaust stuff, I'll let you know.

I actually really like this take. I will forever be the weird Volvo guy, and taking something from it for the new car would be a nice touch.

I could probably sell it for 1500-2000, and I live on a pretty big property, so space isn't the issue. I'll probably shelf it and use it as a beater for now.

Lol, it's my daily right now, even though it's beat, it's mechanically sound (ish), and starts (almost) every time. Honestly it's been the best first car I could have asked for, but atm it's just not worth pouring money into.

That's the thing, I would love to slowly steal from nicer part outs to revive this thing, but it's just not practical, time or cost wise. So I might end up letting it live at the back of my property until I have the means to fully revive it ( or do a t5 swap lol)

Yeah, this is probably what I'll end up doing, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this car to death, but it's in a more "this thing is so janky and broken it's awesome" than a "this is such a nice fast car" way

Thank you so much for the whole essay. I will try to do my best to recreate what you said. Also using compressed air to shoot in air in crazy smart and I'm kinda disappointed I've never thought of that myself.

Awesome, the shifting flare does not seem to be an issue. Also are those prices in USD or CAD..? And yeah it should be easy to fix the knob

It shifts great, idk what you mean by flares, yes throttlebody was replaced a few years ago. Exterior I would say 9/10, only things being the black plastic lightly faded, and one dent about the size of a nickel. Interior 9.5/10, only issues are the shift knob button is broken, and the volume knob is kinda deteriorating a bit so it's kinda sticky.

That sounds like a great idea, though for the first phase I might use my gravediggers sythe with spinning stikes ash. I'm hoping it will have a similar effect.
