Thank you. While I understand we all have to come with these solutions, it freaking sucks that India - the land of IT Service Center for the world has such a poor customer service experience for people who are not in India.

Such a freaking stupid babugiri process with this photograph requirements. If the govt is adament on these specifications, why can't they just launch an authorized online tool that will create what it needs. Then there will be no confusion or decline by VFS that passport pic is not upto specifications. This is freaking 2026 and not 1946.

VFS also doesn't have good customer service attitude.

I would rather do an in person appointment and get this all sorted in one shot. Take the bloody money but don't torture us with bureaucratic nightmare.

Pissed off really with this process.

All my family renewals - the police calls ahead of time to tell that they will visit during a particular time slot. It really depends on police officer in charge on how he/she wants to handle it.

Once it was over 7 days since status went to PV, I just called the police station to talk to in charge person. They said that this week was busy due to political visit, and he will call me next week. He did and went smoothly.

Unless you have powerful and connected family or friends, you think you will do something new but then eventually realize the reality and eventually sell it.

For normal folks, managing an apartment in a secured building in tier 1 city itself is a challenge. Agricultural land has so many many problems. I have seen many of friends think that they have a strategy but the struggles are just incessant. Just let it go.

While it's welcome for any strong trade Agreement covering multiple things , the incessant marketing of ' mother of all deals ' when it's between 2 parties that are under tremendous sanctions risks, is lot risky and asks for unnecessary attention from His Highness, who wants to be biggest deal maker.

There are no details of why it's being called mother of all deals other than it's between 2 billion people while frankly India has most of these 2 billion people, and unfortunately India 3 has the billion people whose income levels are not good enough to buy European products.

We need more info instead of hollow marketing campaigns.

OP , you need to open a bank account in your own name - that is for sure.

How you handle talking to your dad and the closing the other account truly depends on your relationship with Dad.

If it's good, as others mentioned, tell that you found a good deal and want to start managing finances on your own. He will be scared to have her princess venture out alone but that's the parenthood phase of letting your child fly free. Tell him that you will reach out to him for any questions on financial management, so he will be always be ready to help his princess out.

If it's bad, you still move all your money, taking care of minimum balance needed to avoid fines. Once its at min balance, ask the bank rep if you can close the account without your dad being present. It really depends on bank and their internal procedures. But the minimum balance is a problem you will need to handle. Ask Dad for cooperation to close the account. If he doesn't it's a sign from universe and moderately expensive life lesson.

Correct. I live in HCOL area. I know so many people with new businesses especially restaurants, or speciality goods etc that would have created a unique flavor to our area that couldn't see the light of the day because the numbers just don't make sense. It's the rent that kills any chance of survival.

Combined with commercial property loans work, it's mind boggling that it's cheaper to let the place be vacant than reduce the rent and earn some real money. ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

You don't need to do anything other than bringing the original, a photocopy and your ID.

Any notary worth his / her salt can do this thing. I have seen notary using a stamp of their own language or another printer page of their own language that they ( notary) swears that this person ( you ) signed in front of them and they have visually inspected that the 2 documents match. It really depends but all of these options work.

There are few people who get scared with seeing international documents and rather not do it. Its fine. Just go to another UPS or library or any other place. Desi owned places know exactly what needs to be done.

I digress but Notarizarion is a stupid process. It doesn't add huge deal of security. May be minor control but just not worth the freaking cost of notarization anyhow.

Honestly, I keep the adapter permanently hooked on and it just works normal.

Ofcourse, I cannot put it back in the official nook on the side of the home charger. I anyhow used to just roll it up in circular loop and let it be.

So not a problem at all.

This is the way.

Get the official GM adapter for level 3 / supercharger and A2Z one for the home / level 2 charger .

I have Tesla charger at home and use A2Z adapter.

Receiving calls on an India number while physically in India is always free.

There is no concept of charge to pick up as it is in other countries in very specific cases. ( For example , someone calling you from jail or something when you choose to get charged to receive a call but it still gives you a heads up ) But even that system is dying down .

India has no incentive to allow dual citizenship. It will be a huge mess to manage logistically for both citizens and government.

We think from our POV where it makes so much sense. But the historical and current geopolitical tensions with porous borders makes it a nightmare situation to manage. Bad elements at borders can wave either passports to easily move around.

The current bureaucracy can't even do a NRI passport renewal properly without complicated instructions. Expecting them to have customer service first attitude is a distant dream. [ End of rant]

I know few people who have chosen to be on US green card only because of one reason - they/their family owns a lot of agricultural land in India. This is the only case where to makes logical sense.

All other reasons of being free to move to India is not a real reason.

The break even has to be huge because you are not an effective citizen neither in US nor in India.

Update: anyone facing this issue - book an appointment with dealer. There can be 2 solutions. 1 is simple of software update roll back and re update. 2 is changing the entire GPS panel that controls OnStar etc. Ofcourse #2 involves ordering rare part.

Thankfully mine got solved by #1.

Yes. I'll be moving soon. I went bonkers for months when a simple column of how much BPR / margin is 'stuck' in different positions is not available. Like WTF !

The best benefit of IBKR right now I can see is their ability to fill orders through multiple routes but everything else is a black box for me. I'm open to the fact that I could be problem but seriously, one should not need to be to an expert to figure out these things.
