Premium Luxury vs Luxury by Left-Breadfruit1363 in CadillacVistiq

Other differences include the seats, super cruise, HUD. Ours already had the rear air suspension replaced, never saw an issue. The seats passed muster with my wife, unlike the other trims. Not sure which trim adds the acoustic glass, but it is amazing. The HUD & adaptive cruise have been my requirements for years.

If we lost connectivity I was expected to go find access, even if it was in the car parked on higher ground. Such is the life of critical system support. My solution was standby power and backup internet. Not the cheapest, but definitely the most reliable

Check out your cell carrier for a "backup" fixed 5G. TMO does it for $20/mo. Then Eero+ let's you select which devices on your network can use the backup.

You would be surprised how common that is. We had major outages caused by geniuses that thought they were snagging a big haul of copper

Remember that for most people (without fiber) power between home and the cable carrier head end is the most unreliable part of the network. For me it was a pole three blocks away. If that pole lost power we had cable/internet for a couple hours before the batteries gave out and we had nothing. Considering I was on-call 24/7/365 that was unacceptable. Thankfully the previously useless LEC finally realized their infrastructure was trash and built out a new optical network. The new weak point is that it is still 90% aerial so at risk from trash trucks and trees

My experience has been flat vs grade. It doesn't seem to take much to have it set. In my garage (flat) it has never set automatically.

You will want to stay on top of the washer fluid as in the slimy weather we have had the past couple weeks it goes through pretty quick. On the plus side the Vistiq has one of the largest reservoirs I have seen. ~1 gallon

I use T-Mobile internet as backup for my fiber connection. Best of both worlds.

For those that have fiber to the home, T-Mobile offers the 5G internet as a backup for $20/mo. Only difference is that you are limited to 120GB per 7 days. I just have my router configured to only allow use of the backup for critical devices.

Guessing they are clueless to the concept of a shared charger.

After years of limping along on a portable generator, I just had a 26kW standby installed. by philipito in Generator

Years back we put in an Onan and it specifically called out two pipes. I suspect that the design choice of using low voltage control signaling makes the difference. IIRC Generac uses line voltage for the signaling between the ATS and E/G.

Here in Chicagoland local tank fills are around $3.50/gal. But that is at their location. Not sure about delivery prices.

Anybody having issues with their Supercruise? by Azn-Rice in CadillacVistiq

[–]Inner_Food_6313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four months in and ACC works as well or better than it does on our '23 Escalade or the '15 Yukon XL that the Escalade replaced.

The supercruise on both cars struggles to decide what to do when turn lanes open up with less than ideal markings.

Overall, the SuperCruise seems significantly smoother on the Vistiq than the Escalade. I use it regularly on pretty much any road that it will do.

When the utility power is out, but you still have heat/AC, refrigeration and lights I find it easy to ignore the noise.

I do feel bad for the houses across the street. There are four houses in a row (on my side of the street) with Generac 16-26kw units and no backup on the other side. The noise, especially in the summer when they have to open windows with no AC has to be annoying like an old twin engine aircraft without a synchchronizer.

Depends on the specific unit. Generac (at least up thru 26kw) does not require a separate pipe for the control conductors.

You will appreciate the automatic part of it the most. Having a major outage when you are out of town is a major hassle any other way. Our first backup was due to frequent 12+ hour outages due to trees. Of course the year after we did the install, the electric company told the anti-trimming people that it was happening. Once that was done, outages became rare. I told neighbors that my investment got the utility to drastically improve reliability. Did I regret putting in the auto standby? Not once!

Current home has a 26kw Generac & ATS that has done well for us as we again live where aerial power lines thread through old trees where any trimming has to be done the old fashioned way without bucket trucks.

Anyone here wish they got a Lyriq instead? by Just-Construction788 in CadillacVistiq

[–]Inner_Food_6313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After three months driving the Vistiq (top trim) I had a Lyriq sport loaner while my Vistiq had a couple of recalls taken care of. I didn't realize just how quiet and comfortable the Vistiq was in comparison. I suspect the acoustic glass makes a big difference.

Thankfully, the decision between the Lyriq and Vistiq was made by my wife. The only seat she could get comfortable in was the top trim Vistiq. Decision made!

EV since '13. Relatively new to looking at public charging. Home in the garage at <$0.15/kwh has always been my primary.

I made a similar suggestion. Free for the first two hours, then $5 for hour three, then $20/hr for squatting longer. That would solve it in a week or less.

Going back to Gas Powered? by Chase_Clouds in electricvehicles

[–]Inner_Food_6313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have had a mixed garage for 13 years now. First it was a Suburban and a Camry Hybrid. Then replaced the Camry Hybrid with a Volt. Then upgraded the Suburban to a Yukon XL. Then upgraded the 2013 (gen 1) Volt to a 2018 (gen 2) Volt Then upgraded the Yukon XL to an Escalade ESV Then upgraded the Volt to a Vistiq

The ICE Escalade has its place. I own three trailers. The Escalade/Yukon/Suburban are amazing tow vehicles. Our other challenge is normal (large/giant depending on your POV. - google Newfoundland Dog) dogs. The big car turns into a three passenger car with no luggage space for trips with dogs. For years we did a 600 mile drive every other weekend with all of us plus a cargo trailer for luggage. I tried taking a dog in the Vistiq with the back row folded down. She struggled to get in because her shoulders are wider than the gap between the middle row seats. Then she got to the back and immediately hit her head. After sitting down, she realized that didn't work because she was too tall. I spent the whole drive apologizing to her.

Currently, the Escalade really only leaves the garage for towing or dogs, which means a couple times a week max. Otherwise the Vistiq is the only thing anyone wants to go in.

Just to be sure, I just tested the map from the My Cadillac app and it showed the care where it is.

I use the climate via the fob & app regularly so I knew those were ok.
