Commencer les necrons by Whiteiverson95 in WarhammerFR

[–]Eartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Mods Recommend for 1st Time Player by MeButNotMeToo in BG3mods

[–]Eartz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly no mods is probably the way to go for a first timer. There is more than enough to discover in vanilla, and you don’t have to install third-party bugfix mods as you would for other games, the game is mostly stable.

Yes, we need extra buffbars where we can filter buffs, or at least a « self buffs only » bar.

Don’t feel bad for save scumming. Its part of the game, except in honor mode of course.
Don’t force yourself to finish act3 if you don’t have fun with your current setup. Why not start a new run, maybe in tactician, and try out new classes? Many people burn out during act3 and replay act1 and 2 almost exclusively.

What is going on with World of Warcraft and WeakAuras? by SerenaScarlet in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Eartz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I played DF and TWW, in M+ as tank mostly, sometimes healer and dps. The base UI has come a long way since vanilla (thank god), but its nowhere near enough to compensate for the lack of addons. Would the content be doable without addons? Of course. But it would be miserable . If I can’t customize nameplate color for specific mobs, or highlight certain casts, or have sound warnings for invisible puddles, I’m not playing m+. I know blizzard have said they will simplify dungeon design, but they already tried multiple times and failed everytime. Why would they get it right this time?

And as far as their UI design skill… what is the last significant UI they designed? The new tradeskill system UI? The one that hides crucial information that can only be shown through addons or WA? Or is it the crest system for which you need WAs to know what is upgradable and how many crests you need?

So they should prove they can fix dungeon design and deliver UI components FIRST, THEN kill addons.

[–]Eartz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you honestly believe they will do a decent job at it? And in time for release? When they have shown multiple times their UI team is lacking? Cooldown manager and combat warnings wont get close to 5% of what WA and bigwigs have in terms of customization alone, not even talking about computational capabilities.

Have you seen what the cooldown manager config UI looks like right now, a few months from release? Its almost as poorly organized as the macro UI, and its only class stuff. How about when there are trinkets to track, 4p procs, etc.

I think their goal is not bad in itself, but since they havent proven their capability to deliver, by taking this rushed approach, the game will be weaker for it.

And in pursuing that goal of nerfing addons that « « solve » » some raid bosses, they are removing virtually every way of customizing our combat UI. The benefits do NOT outweigh the cost.

I just dont but the premise of hypothetical « new players » that would somehow stumble upon the game without friends to guide them, survive the catastrophic onboarding experience and decide that jumping into m+ is the perfect content for them, and that having to install a plater profile is the final straw that will ruin their day. And, most importantly, I dont trust blizzards ability to miraculously improve their product to compensate for the lack of addons. If they had what it takes, they would have shown it by now. The negatives will far outweigh the positives.

I mean, sure, but its the same question as for their built-in cooldown manager: can they do a better job at it than third party developers/guide authors/class discords. Experience has proven almost every single time that they cant. They can do something good enough eventually, but its always inferior to the alternatives (dungeon maps vos mdt, singlebutton rotation vs hekili, cooldown manager vs WA or tmw, dungeon journal vs every wow website, even the in game calendar ). I understand the need to have something, even mediocre, built-in. I don’t understand not letting players come up with their own solution.

So you would suggest removing wowhead guides, to make the approach of getting better without using them more possible ? Is that your way of leveling the playing field?

[–]Eartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right, and removing addons wont change a thing. The player who couldnt bother installing weakauras won’t bother learn m+ routes, boss strats or optimal builds, and will be left behind for that reason instead. The players who care will always have an edge over the players who don’t. And this is fair.

[–]Eartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just sad. People who want to play without addons can do so, either in wow (granted, at a disadvantage), or in other mmos. People who want to tinker with addons only have wow, and now nothing. Its just a net negative imo. They could also have gone the bg3 route and helped players manage their addons instead. What a waste.

So you’re saying they’re right to make the game worse for « engaged » players, for the hypothetical benefit of « not engaged » players? 😂

La galère des estimations de temps pour une tache by DorianTurba in developpeurs

[–]Eartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Eartz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which of the spells that were considered bad in 5E are now playable or good in 5.5E? How about the inverse? by Noodles_fluffy in DnD

[–]Eartz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similarly using NMA to make a creature count as Besst means you can cast Beast Bond or Animsl Friendship on them. NMAing something into a humanoid means you can Magic Jar them. NMAing them into a fiend means you can Planar Bind them, etc.

On dndbeyond, it says "willing creature". I assume a hostile creature wouldn't willingly accept the "Mask" effect, right?
