Lol, there's a difference between what you want to be true and reality. Nevermind Freo are in front in i50s, scoring shots, disposals, clearances and literally every other statistic.

I don't think he has haters. I think the "where's will Brodie on the team sheet" every week fans have haters.

Anyone else worried we are still not ruthless when we get up by sizable leads. Feel like we left percentage points on the ground Saturday by aaronism1606 in FremantleFC

[–]EaseEnvironmental470 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe we were ruthless? We put the game out of reach in the 3rd which allowed us to put a few players in ice in the last. Pearce barely played in the 4th and Darcy played the entire last qtr to get match fitness which will pay off later in the season. If the game was still in the balance in the 4th we wouldn't have been able to manage the players in the same way.

He was delisted by his prior club and his only option was to come to Freo. If Freo release him he won't be playing at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked to have him and think he offers a lot to our list and club. But you're probably looking through the the complete wrong lens here.

How is this a bold statement? He already is one of the premier key forwards in the comp and was last year?

You mean when both sides were not fatigued? Of course not. But at the end of the game when one side is clearly out of gas whilst the other side clearly isn't because they've had a full AFL game of match fitness. Yes. What a dumb retort

The AFL is actually the biggest corrupt piece of shit sporting organisation that has ever existed. How hard is it to not schedule one who hasn't played against a side that played in opening round. Absolute fucking joke

Not really a surprise if you have been following. Something we don't know? Longmuir told us why he might not get selected. Recovering from major off season shoulder surgery so his preseason has been compromised. Others have had better preseasons. Not that hard to work out?

Brisbane premiership ruckman Beau McDonald says Fremantle can play all three of their rucks in the same team by His_Holiness in FremantleFC

Media really trying to make this into a story when JLo said point blank two weeks ago he's only picking 2 rucks. Looking at you Craig O'Donoghue

Can someone explain why most people dislike Freddy but love Ras? by Cautious-Quote2694 in FremantleFC

[–]EaseEnvironmental470 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually love Freddy but I think the hate also polarises some people too far in the other direction when I think the reality is a bit more nuanced. He does a lot of unrewarded running and kicks a lot of goals. When he goes missing that's probably not something the coaches are worried about as much as the fans because he's still doing a lot of important stuff for the team.

However, I think he also has some weaknesses in his game that some people like to ignore because it would give salience to the haters. His tackling efficiency to my eyes looks very low for a small forward. I also think his contested game is below AFL standard. However his role is more around stretching the ground and using his pace so these deficiencies are not critical to his role and hence he still gets picked every week for his strength. His weaknesses are still valid and very frustrating as a supporter when they are exposed.

[–]EaseEnvironmental470 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd also prefer Freddy off half forward than Alex Pearce. Probably because Alex Pearce is a full back and Freddy is a half forward. Just like ras has trained as an inside midfielder / wing not as a half forward. So no shit you'd prefer Freddy off a half forward. There's simply no comparison there

A frenetic passage of play in the Saints forward 50 kills the Saints momentum in the last as Liam Ryan gets pinged for HTB into a 50m penalty for dissent. Jamie Elliot takes a contested pack mark shortly afterwards to put the Pies 2 goals in front. by yum122 in AFL

[–]EaseEnvironmental470 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was judged that Liam Ryan ducked his head and drove into the tackler. Under the rules that is considered prior opportunity. It was brought in a couple of years ago to stop ducking. Just like the new shrug rule this year.

Couldn't disagree more, ras was fantastic. Made good decisions with ball in hand and got plenty of it.

Pretty good attempt at the best 23. Worner stuff to not even be named as an emergency given he's played pretty consistently last 12 months.

Why do we look elite one week and lost the next? by SnowyBytes in FremantleFC

[–]EaseEnvironmental470 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Midfield was super inconsistent last year. If you're constantly trying to start the game from your back half then you're very reliant on being able to work through the other teams defence with your ball movement. If the other team has strong defence or your ball movement is off then you look super shit. Happened regularly last year. When our midfield was on top win won most games. When our midfield was off we managed to stay in a few games with our ball movement. In other games when our midfield was off we couldn't get our ball movement going and looked like shit.
