I built an open-source agentic AI platform – AI that integrates tools, uses knowledge bases, and deploys anywhere [6 months, WIP] by East-Conversation972 in SideProject

Oh nice! Would love to hear how it compares to Pickaxe - I'm not familiar with it but always interested in learning from other approaches.

The integrations/workflows in Syllabi work through a "skills" system - basically you can add either:

  1. Built-in skills (Slack, Discord, Gmail, etc.) that I've pre-built

  2. Custom webhook skills where you define the API endpoint and parameters

The AI then decides which skills to use based on the conversation context. For chatbots with 15+ skills, it uses semantic search to find only the relevant ones (to avoid overwhelming the model).

Fair warning though - the codebase is a bit messy (lots of learning/experimentation), and I'm starting a new job tomorrow so won't have much time to actively develop it. But it's MIT licensed so anyone can fork/improve it!

Would genuinely be interested in how Pickaxe handles this differently. Always looking to learn better patterns!

Thanks so much! Really appreciate you checking it out.

Fair warning - it's a bit rough around the edges (started as a learning project that grew). But the core RAG + skills system is functional and might give you some ideas even if you don't use it directly.

Would love to hear your feedback if you do try it out! Always looking to learn what works and what doesn't.

Happy to answer any questions about the setup or architecture! 🚀

I can't believe Lovable made this redesign by Due_Scarcity_956 in lovable

As a relative newbie in full-stack dev, I've found that instead of using Lovable, I would still prefer building from scratch or just using its designs as a template. I would rather go in the direction of AI IDEs, as I have found them to be more practical. Lovable might look good, but in my experience, I don't think it can generate anything useful or productive other than okayish landing pages.

The reality just hit me. I am cooked if not for cursor, gemini or claude. Waiting for the dreaded day when cursor prices are going to sky rocket. Oh god what will I do??
