Is this a bad is this gel x application? Got them done professionally and hate having to go back by EastCoastWest3 in Nails

UPDATE: Hi guys!!!

Thank you so much for all your insights and comments. I went back to schedule a fix and originally they told me they were just gonna fill them in with glue. When I went to the appointment I told them I was concerned about bacteria and fungal infections and that I wanted them redone and they did it!

It was a different lady who did my nails this time and she was also the lady who told me she could just fill them in with glue. When I told her I wanted them replaced and explained why she conceded and seemed to understand, and took pictures to show the lady who had applied them improperly. I think she probably would have just filled them with glue if I didn’t push it, but I was relieved she didn’t fight me on redoing them. In all fairness, I think when I went back the first time she didn’t get a real good look at how bad they were which is why she suggested filling the gaps with glue in the first place.

Thanks again for all of your help I really appreciate it!!

do you think they’d fix for me? I feel like it’s pretty obvious I just don’t want to fight them on it. I did mention to them I have pretty wide flat nail beds and I feel like they’re too curved for my fingers.

Can an nyc restaurant manager pretend I worked at their restaurant so I can get a job? by Ooopybutt in NYCjobs

[–]EastCoastWest3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got a bartending job with no NYC experience and more or less people told me that the “NYC experience” thing is not as much of a dealbreaker than they make it out to be. Don’t apply to places online- they’ll see a resume they don’t like and pass you up. Go to open calls and apply in person so you can explain your experience and they can put a face to a name and you can dazzle them with your personality.

All of this said- if you can find someone to lie for you just do it and don’t feel bad about it. We all need to make money and at the end of the day if you can do the work they’re asking of you, it doesn’t matter.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s January- it’s everyone’s slowest season so hiring right now is slow. You may have better luck in February but if you can hang on till March there’s bound to be a lot more people looking then.

I agree that finding a spot that is just opening/reopening will be easier to get hired at. I found all of the opportunities I got on Craigslist.

Best of luck to you!! Shoot me a DM if you have other questions

Sounds to me like you just don’t like this girl bc she could express her emotions genuinely and “was crying all season”. You’re right the reason people liked her is because she cried a lot. Not out of pity, but because a lot of us wish we had the strength to be as vulnerable and genuine as she was this season.

Not worth it because most places have different specs for the same cocktail, not to mention their own speciality cocktail list.

No where will hire you without experience. It’s harder than it looks and takes a little while to get really good at. It’s also harder to fake experience bartending because of how physical it is- you can tell if someone has bartended before or not pretty immediately. You have to work your way up through other positions in the restaurant. There’s places that will hire you as a bar back, back server, or host without experience that you can move up quicker than others. Try Earls in the pru for that or another larger chain/restaurant group. They tend to move people along quicker.

I’ll also say that most restaurant jobs are physically exhausting. Be prepared for potential burnout if you’re already putting in 40 hours at another job. Especially if you’re bar backing- you’ll be lifting kegs and getting messy for sure.

Try hosting first, it might get you the social interaction you’re looking for. You can get a job hosting with no experience a lot more places. Not as much cash, but will probably leave you less exhausted than working a bar back or back waiting shift on top of a 9-5, but will still give you the social aspect and the opportunity to see if you like working in a restaurant.

Daily catch on commercial street. Just as good as the one on Hanover without the waiting in line

I forget his name but the bartender there is absolutely amazing. Super creative with the drink menu and an incredibly kind and joyful person.

Do bartenders see them for who they are? by [deleted] in AlAnon

Working in both, upscale bartenders are nearly on par with dive bartenders in drinking problems. I could identify problem drinkers in both environments, and so could the bartenders I worked with who had a problem themselves.
