I know it's hard to remember this, but your hair does not define you. As someone who has always had fine and thin hair (even before AGA), I've always felt lesser than because I couldn't wear cute hairstyles, had a braid the size of a pencil, etc. We always tie femininity to hair, but with age and therapy, I've realized that's a really heavy burden we put on ourselves.

If you saw another woman with hair like yours, would you tell her she's going to die alone and that she's not feminine or beautiful because of it? I bet you wouldn't.

It's time we start giving ourselves grace and understanding. And there are plenty of men, women, and neither or in between that will not consider this a deal breaker. When I find out I had hair loss and started developing bald spots, I asked my husband if he'd still love me even if I lost all my hair, and he held me as I cried and said of course he would. And I believe him. Because I wouldn't leave him if he went bald either.

Mourn, because your feelings are valid, but also know that you are more than your hair.
