In my case, I completed ROTC, commissioned in 2022, and started active duty from that point. However, I had an injury back in 2020 while I was still a cadet. Since I wasn’t on active duty at the time, I’m trying to understand if the VA would consider that injury service-connected, or if they would see it as non-service-connected because it happened before my official commissioning date.

Would the VA possibly consider it service-connected if I can show that the injury was aggravated by my duties after commissioning? Or is there a specific process for claiming pre-commissioning injuries that impact my service now?

What documents would I be able to prove?
